There really is something special about a spring wedding. It’s such an uplifting time of year when everything starts to bloom and the days begin to get lighter and warmer. It also provides the perfect inspiration for a dreamy big day, think pretty pastel colour themes, an abundance of flowers, a floaty and ethereal lace dress and so much more...
Gorgeous spring wedding flowers
“When it comes to spring wedding flowers you can’t beat the soft colours of Avalanche Pearl and Lovely Avalanche roses,” says florist Vasti at Forever Blossom, who created the stunning displays for this shoot. “Soft pink Memory Lane and Dancing Cloud roses are also great, along with lisianthus in light apricot, coral and white. I also use pink and white blossom, light pink and white gypsophila, lilac alliums, eucalyptus, chico and Ruscus leaves, ivy and pampas grass.”
Best in season
“Blossom and light greenery look beautifully whimsical and foraging for blooms and foliage can also help to keep costs down,” says Vasti. “Eucalyptus is available year round and is wonderful to use, as it can be out of water for a long period of time when dried, has a beautiful colour and symbolises protection and abundance. The alliums used in this shoot also create a wonderful height for displays but are less popular for bouquets, as they have a slight odour of onions! It’s always a good idea to use flowers that are in season too, to reduce your carbon footprint and save money.”
A dreamy spring wedding dress
So, when it comes to the dress, you can also be inspired by the pastel colours of the season. Blush and champagne shades are perfect, along with soft shades of ivory. There’s also a real air of romance to this time of year, and dresses with layers of airy tulle and lace, sheer fabrics and flowing draped silhouettes are just divine.
Ginger is the perfect dress for a balmy spring day. This fit and flare design, with its delicate embellishment and low V-neck, is understated yet totally eye-catching. The bodice is covered with beautiful floral appliqués that finish just below the hips, while the elegant three-way straps are inspired by this season’s catwalk trends.
Wear with flare
This fit and flare style is also amazing for accentuating the waist and you can tailor the look to suit the season. Wear it with our 189 underskirt for a soft spring feel or with our 190 underskirt for more volume. Then just add our fabulous Leonie belt and you’re done!
Spring wedding colours
“A colour scheme of light pinks, peaches, lilacs, ivories, yellows and sage greens is perfect for spring,” says Vasti. “Peach and lilac eustoma, Peach Avalanche, Ivory, Pink Avalanche and Bombastic Spray roses are all ideal choices,” says Vasti. “If the day isn't too hot these flowers will stay beautiful until the next day at least. You could also re-use them by popping them into hot water after the wedding, tying them into little bunches and then giving them to friends, family or a chosen charity.”
A blushing beauty
Our pretty Florence design is perfect for brides looking for a dress in soft spring wedding colours. You can choose between ivory and blush, so you’ll have the perfect shade to suit your skin tone. The sweetheart bodice features a new style of corset that’s super flattering and bang on trend. There are also embroidered floral lace motifs scattered prettily up the bodice and across the waistline.
Fairy tale lace
The embroidered lace is just exquisite, whether you go for blush or ivory. It's also cleverly placed to draw attention to your nipped in waist. The eyelet and shoestring back is perfectly designed to ensure a great fit and also adds a touch of romantic, fairy tale charm to the whole look. The soft floaty skirt features a puddle train, which is lightweight, elegant and perfect for destination weddings. You can also wear this skirt without an underskirt for a lighter feel.
A bohemian springtime
Boho is still a huge trend and it’s the perfect theme for this time of year. Our Heidi Hudson captures the boho look brilliantly and this dress is no exception. We love the directional gathers on the bodice, they’re stylish but also super flattering. The soft chiffon skirt is the just the icing on the (boho wedding) cake!
At the back there are more dainty pleats to highlight your nipped in waist. The understated sweetheart bodice can also be styled up or down to suit your look. For an eye-eye-catching look, why not add our Solstice belt or a delicate floral halo? Alternatively, a relaxed loose plait, decorated with fresh flowers, is the perfect look to suit the season.
A spring wedding doesn’t mean you need to shy away from sparkle, either. Our very first Platinum Edition dress for the Heidi Hudson range features plenty of glitter, while still channelling the soft and pretty feel of these months. Oslo’s delicate ornate beading with its light tulle skirt is the perfect marriage of shimmer and softness.
Oslo comes in either ivory or champagne and also features a stylish back design of criss-crossing straps, embellished with more beading. It looks fabulous with loose waves and fresh flowers, or try it with one of our Calli hair vines for a totally boho vibe.
“I love textures such as Pampas grass and grass seeds, which are perfect for a wild bohemian look with a touch of softness,” says Vasti. “It’s always good to consider which flowers will last best out of water too. We’ve used gypsohilplia in the displays here, for a whimsical spring feel. Moss is wonderful too, as it helps to hide the mechanics and allows you to create foam-free displays while adding texture and a feeling of nature. I always tell brides to remember that the flowers they choose will be in their wedding photos for the rest of their lives. So, choose colours and flowers that are timeless.”
Dressed in spring blooms
Why not match your softly pretty florals with an equally whimsical design? Breathtaking Enya combines a gorgeous embroidered lace bodice with super lightweight, floaty chiffon that pools in sumptuous ripples on the floor. It’s effortlessly elegant with a dash of sultry sexiness, courtesy of the on-trend slit in the skirt. The sweetheart bodice also features a stunning plunging neckline alongside delicate lace illusion straps and discreet illusion panels, so it’s just the right side of revealing.
Softly does it
At the back, the exquisite detailing of the lace is revealed to the full. The low back looks fabulous with sultry, tumbling tresses with just one or two of our Calli hair vines weaved through. For even more drama, wear it with our glamorous Delevigne cape for a wow-factor evening look.
Finally, if you love delicate lace with a touch of glitz, then Darian is the design for you. This gorgeous A-line style features a softly flowing skirt and a romantic, lace-covered bodice embellished with plenty of sparkling beading. It combines an attractively low sweetheart neckline with a higher illusion boat neckline in delicate lace. So there’s lots of boho romance alongside plenty of coverage and support.
Dress for the season
Then turn around and you’ll discover the breathtaking back, which will be the main focal point as you walk past your guests. You can add fullness to this divine skirt by wearing it with one, or even two, of our underskirts too or, for a softer feel, it can also be worn without an underskirt. Then just style it with a romantic half up/half down hairstyle and let the dress do all the talking!
