Fairy lights, roaring log fires, mulled wine and a sophisticated, lace Anna Sorrano design. What more could you want for a dreamy Christmas-themed wedding?

Findlay and Kelly first met ten years ago, when they were both in sixth form.

“For our first date, we went to watch the film 21Jump Street,” says Kelly.

“It’s a comedy, which set the tone for our relationship, as we haven’t stopped laughing ever since!”

Eight years later on the 18th of August 2020, Findlay proposed at the top of Snowdon. “It was magical and definitely worth the long hike!” says Kelly.

Shopping for the dress

Kelly and her Mum visited wed2b’s Liverpool store to find her dream dress, our classic Veronica design. “I instantly felt at ease, the staff were so helpful and we weren’t pressured into choosing a dress,” she says.

“They made us feel relaxed and there were so many dresses to choose from.”

Discovering Anna Sorrano

Kelly’s corded lace A-line with elegant sleeves was picked out for her by a member of staff. “I tried on my dress and fell in love with it,” she says. “I had been adamant I didn’t want anything that had a princess look but instantly knew this was ‘The One’.” If you like this style, we think you'll also love these flattering A-line silhouettes and our favourite dresses with stylish three-quarter-length sleeves.

Finding the perfect venue

The couple married at their dream venue, Soughton Hall, a Grade II listed country house hotel in Flintshire. “I had actually been looking at venues for quite a while,” says Kelly. “After we got engaged, I forwarded an email with the Soughton Hall brochure to Findlay. But, when he had a closer look at the email, he saw the date was April 2020, four months before we got engaged! Findlay soon realised that I’d been planning the venue long before the proposal!"

"We booked it for the 28th December, the ideal date for the Christmas themed wedding we wanted.”

The big day

“I got ready at my childhood home, surrounded by my bridal party,” says Kelly. “The morning couldn’t have been smoother. It was a cloudy day but the rain held off.”

“We travelled to church in an old fashioned, split screen camper van. Then my father walked me down the aisle to the ‘Bridal March’, played on the harp. One of my good friends read an extract from Love Actually and our vicar also cracked a few jokes, which made us feel at ease. Findlay and I left the church to ‘All You Need Is Love’ by the Beatles.”

A warm welcome

After the ceremony, the couple’s Shetland sheepdog Nancy was waiting outside to greet them, before they travelled to Soughton Hall in the camper van. “On arrival we were greeted with mulled wine as the harpist played by the roaring fire,” says Kelly.

“The lights twinkled on the tree and it was magical."

"Our first dance was to ‘Lover’ by Taylor Swift, mostly for the first line, ‘We can leave the Christmas lights up till January…’.”

A Christmas-themed wedding

“Our theme was festive and we went for a burgundy, cream and gold colour scheme,” says Kelly. “Place names were candy canes and pinecones with each person's name handwritten on. We served a lovely three-course meal of pâté, lamb and sticky toffee pudding. The wedding cake was a rustic, naked cake decorated with forest fruits and pine cones. Later, we had ‘wedding speech’ bingo cards and then a DJ who played all the cheesy tunes!”

And for other Anna brides…

“Our top tip is to embrace every moment, as it will be the fastest day of your life but the best day by far!” says Kelly.
