It’s official, a spring or summer wedding is your favourite! But, did you know, that if you’re a spring/summer bride, you’re likely to be spending more than your autumn/winter counterparts?
’Tis the season
Brides of all ages generally spend between £10,000 and £20,000 on their weddings, but the number of brides spending this amount more than triples in the summer months, according to WED2B's latest survey. 6% of all brides-to-be said they’d be spending over £20,000 on their wedding. Of these, 51% preferred a summer wedding. Those spending less were more likely to be having their wedding in the cooler months, and 34% of brides who were spending less than £5k were planning an autumn or winter wedding.
Time to wed
Mid-spring through to early autumn is the most popular time for weddings, and a whopping 71% of brides choose to marry then. This means there’s also a huge demand on the wedding industry over this period. As a result of this, suppliers, such as venues, caterers and florists, are much busier during the warmer months. This means they are often less likely to have offers or discounts available.
Young Vs Old
Younger couples are also happy to spend more on their big day, compared to older brides. According to the survey, 45% of brides-to-be under 30 were happy to spend more than £10,000 on their special day. At the other end of the scale, 30% of brides over the age of 45 spent less than £5,000.

Summer wedding stats
“It came as no shock to us that a summer wedding is the most popular," says Todd Cassidy, Managing Director of WED2B. "However, we were surprised at some of the huge differences in spend. We hope the WED2B 2018 Survey is both useful and informative to brides-to-be and the wider wedding industry.”
