Imogen and Zach were childhood sweethearts. “We met through friends and started dating at the age of fourteen,” says Imogen. “Our first date was at a small Costa coffee shop. Neither of us had been on a date before, so we were both extremely nervous!”

A proposal in the New Forest

Zach and Imogen had been together for four years when he proposed. “The proposal was extremely romantic,” says Imogen. “We went to our favourite walking spot in the New Forest National Park and took with us a picnic to watch the sunset.”

“Zach stood up his phone and said he wanted to take some pictures. Little did I know he was about to pull out a ring! I immediately burst into tears of joy. I can’t really remember the rest, because we were both so overwhelmed with excitement!”

Shopping for the dress

“Lots of my friends went to WED2B for their wedding dresses, so I knew it was where I should go for mine,” says Imogen. “I took two of my bridesmaids with me to the Southampton store. The staff were so wonderful and helpful. I had no idea what I wanted or what style would suit me, but the assistants made me feel comfortable and confident and found the perfect dress. I only had to try on three dresses before I found ‘The One’. It fitted like a glove and I was so excited to take it home with me that same day.”

Imogen chose Indigo. “It was so comfortable and fitted my body perfectly,” she says. “It made me feel confident and had such beautiful lace detailing. So many people asked me on my wedding day if it was vintage, which made me very happy. They were also impressed by the intricate details.” For similar styles, have a closer look at; Cruiz, Dillon, or Taron.

A Hampshire wedding venue

The couple held their reception at Kimbridge Barn, a Hampshire wedding venue. “We’d been to their tearooms for afternoon tea many times and had said to each other,

‘Wouldn’t this be a lovely wedding venue?’. When we got engaged it was an easy decision to pick Kimbridge. The staff went above and beyond to make our day special and helped us immensely in our preparations. Located on the River Test, the barn has the most beautiful backdrop, which made it idyllic for photos. Kimbridge holds a very special place in our hearts and always will.”

The big day

“My husband and I both spent the wedding morning getting ready at our childhood homes in Salisbury, alongside our amazing bridesmaids and groomsmen,” says Imogen. “The sun was shining and it was immensely hot. The ceremony was at our local church, which we’ve both attended with our families since we were young. It was packed out and it was exciting to walk down the aisle and see Zach at the other end. My dad walked me down the aisle while Zach’s sister sang beautifully. The ceremony was perfect, although we did kiss earlier than the vicar had told us to – oops!”

A romantic drive

After the ceremony, the newlyweds left in a classic car to go to the reception. “It was a half an hour drive, just the two of us with champagne,” says Imogen. “We got to chat about the service and to say to each other, ‘We’re married!’. We then had canapés and drinks at the reception, followed by a three-course meal and speeches.”

“Our first dance was to a song called ‘Bless the Broken Road’, which we’ve listened to since we were teenagers. We aren’t very good dancers, so we just swayed for a while before inviting the rest of the guests to dance with us.”

Stylish sage green and white

“The wedding colours were sage green with lots of white flowers and green foliage,” says Imogen. “We served a three-course meal and then in the evening there were chipotle chicken wraps, which were amazing. A local couple from the Charter Market in Salisbury made our wedding cake. It was probably one of the things we were most excited by, as trying the different cake flavours was our favourite part of wedding planning! We also had a little miniature model of our Westie, Skye, on the cake.”

“The wedding favours were fudge made by a little fudge shop in Salisbury,” says Imogen. “It’s where I worked for my first job, so they were very special to me. In the evening we had a nine-piece band, which included a friend of ours and my bridesmaid leading on vocals.”

The best bits…

“The most memorable moments were getting to see all of our family and friends in one place, which was absolutely incredible,” says Imogen. “We loved being able to celebrate our love with them and dance the night away together.”

My top tips

“Don’t stress too much,” says Imogen. “The day will go so quickly and the small details won’t matter. You probably won’t stick to your timings, so just let the day flow naturally and enjoy it. All the hard work will pay off. Also don’t worry about getting your wedding dress muddy, it’s amazing what dry cleaners can do!”
