What makes the Sofia Cruz collection stand out from the bridal crowd? Well, for us, it’s her beautiful structured lines, clever use of new materials and stylish contemporary design elements, all underpinned by great craftsmanship.

Think elegant covered buttons that lead the eye, hidden corsetry, on-trend touches like sheer boned corsets or draped modern straps and new fabrics like brocade Mikado and an effortless stretch satin.

If you’re new to the collection, don’t worry. Below we’ve pulled out the key features that we think make this collection something special. So, read on to find out if you’re a Sofia Cruz bride…

A new way with Mikado

Shimmering Mikado isn’t new in the world of bridal, but we love how Sofia uses it to give her designs a crisp modern edge. Lavish Mikado ballgowns are paired with modern pleated bodices and heavily draped, off-the-shoulder straps for real luxury and richness. Mermaid silhouettes have also been updated with flattering V-necks, contemporary wide straps and elongating seams, that lead down to fabulous flared skirts.

Contemporary fabrics

Her satin-backed crepe shows the label’s craftsmanship and offers the best of both worlds. It features luxurious satin on one side, for a high-end finish, but crepe on the inside to give stretch, movement and total comfort. Then there’s the fabulous organza waterfall skirt, paired with a chic crepe bodice for beautiful contrast. Lastly, her new brocade Mikado adds another layer of quality. The raised floral pattern is woven into the fabric itself, combining a classic-looking material with modern touches like a square neckline and low back. It’s far and away our favourite dress so far!

Beautiful buttons

You’d think there was only so much you can do with buttons! On these minimal styles they’re a defining feature, forming a neat line, accentuating the rich ripples in the fabric and leading the eye down the magnificent skirts.

Hidden craftsmanship

These simple modern exteriors hide a secret. Underneath there's plenty of traditional skills and craftsmanship at work to ensure you feel supported and comfortable. Many designs feature a hidden lace-up to ensure your dress fits perfectly, while supporting your bust and giving you a beautiful waistline. All hidden under a chic button back.

Must-have pockets

We know our brides love hidden pockets and Sofia Cruz hasn’t missed this trend either. Tucked away in many of her designs are perfect pockets for nervous hands, big day essentials or simply to strike a pose with!

Subtle, on-trend details

The bridal catwalks were full of sheer bodices with exposed boning this season and we think it's a look that will run and run. Sofia uses it to give her designs a chic modern edge without losing their sophisticated, timeless feel.

Designs that just won’t date

And, on that note, the final thing we love is her timeless appeal. Despite their modern feel and carefully chosen contemporary details, these designs will look just as great in your photos in 20 years’ time as they do today.

Contemporary hair and makeup

Confident modern hair and makeup looks amazing with a Sofia Cruz dress. Think bold eyes or a bold red lip (but not both) and a sleek updo with minimal hair accessories. Alternatively, keep it simple with natural-look rosy lips and cheeks and an unfussy, effortless hair do with a (seemingly!) casual ‘cool girl’ feel.

Accessories to match

These designs deserve equally modern accessories. For a high-fashion finish, why not try your sleek Mikado dress with a soft tulle, off-the-shoulder bolero?

We think the matt tulle, set against the gleaming Mikado, is the perfect contrast. Avoid too much sparkle and try and simple pleated belt too, to highlight the waistline.

Lastly, let your dress take centre stage with a subtle but stylish veil. An elegant plain tulle or a single-tier veil, scattered with pretty pearls, will enhance rather than overshadow your look.
