Our wed2b Ambassador Experience is about celebrating confidence, connection and highlighting the real life story behind each and every dress. So, following hundreds of applications, we chose seven real brides whose stories touched our hearts. They were invited to take part in a photoshoot to experience that wedding day magic all over again, while sharing their wedding dress shopping hopes and fears, highs and lows with us. This is Joanne’s story about finding a last minute wedding dress and how everything changed in just one day…

Joanne's Key Takeaways

  • Don’t panic, even if your wedding is just weeks away.
  • You can still find your dream dress at the last minute.
  • In stressful situations try to take things one step at a time.
  • “It will work out in the end.”

Wedding dress worries

“I felt sick knowing I didn’t have the right dress”

Just two weeks before her wedding, Joanne made a huge decision. “I decided I hated my original dress,” she says. “I didn’t want to walk down the aisle wearing it. I felt hideous, miserable and cheated because I should have been excited… and I wasn’t.”

The night before she set out to find a new dress, the pressure really hit. “I couldn’t sleep,” she says. “Not because I thought I wouldn’t find a dress, but because I was worried something would stop me from going, like waking up with a flat tyre. I just knew I had to go.”

“I was driving in a storm, completely stressed”

The next day was anything but calm. “I drove to Northampton, then Milton Keynes, then back again,” she says. “I was so stressed I nearly crashed my car.”

But despite everything, Joanne had a feeling it would work out. “I was about 90% sure I would find something,” she says. “I’d seen so many dresses online that I loved, I just worried they wouldn’t have my size.”

Shopping for the dress

“I fell in love with the first dress I tried on”

After all the stress, everything changed the moment Joanne walked into wed2b. “The staff were so good with me,” she says. “They took their time, we had a laugh… and I fell in love with the first dress I tried on.”

It wasn’t what she expected. “I thought I’d want a ballgown with a long train,” she says. “But as soon as I put my dress on, nothing else compared.”

“I couldn’t believe I was wearing something so beautiful and that it actually looked good on me,” she says. “That’s when I just knew.”

“It felt like a huge weight had been lifted”

The moment it clicked, everything changed. “It was such a relief,” she says. “Like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Nothing could ruin my mood after that.”

Her stylist played a huge part in that transformation. “She listened to what I wanted, brought different styles and was honest with me,” says Joanne. “She made the whole experience.”

“I never thought I’d get to experience that ‘this is The One’ moment,” she adds. “But I did.”

The wedding day

“Beautiful, fun and memorable”

Joanne married on 22nd August 2025 at Sibson Inn in Peterborough, surrounded by 50 of her closest family and friends. “The venue had a mix of rustic, traditional and modern elements,” she says. “It was perfect for us.”

With a soft pink and gold theme, the day felt exactly how she had imagined it. But it was seeing her dress on the morning of the wedding that made it all feel real. “Just seeing it hanging up ready for me made me so happy,” she says.

“A moment I’ll never forget”

One of Joanne’s most emotional moments came just before walking down the aisle. “I did a first look with my mum and sister,” she says. “They were upset I hadn’t taken them with me when I chose the dress, but their reaction was everything. They understood why I wanted that moment to myself.”

But the moment that stayed with her most was at the top of the aisle. “Seeing David looking at me with so much love, with the biggest smile and tears in his eyes,” she says. “We couldn’t take our eyes off each other the whole ceremony.”

“When they said ‘I now pronounce you husband and wife’, that was the best feeling,” she adds. “After everything, it just felt right.”

“It gave me a confidence I didn’t know I needed”

Joanne’s dress didn’t just change how she felt on her wedding day. “It gave me a new confidence that I really needed at that point in my life,” she says. “And it made me appreciate my body more and feel proud of how I looked.”

It also changed how she approaches challenges. “It showed me that stressful situations don’t have to feel overwhelming if I take them step by step,” she says.

Her advice for brides feeling the same pressure she did is simple. “Don’t panic,” she says. “You’re not alone. So many of us leave things to the last minute. It will work out in the end.”

In her own words

My dress made me feel… “Elegant”

I knew it was 'The One’ when… “I couldn’t take my eyes off how beautiful it was.”

The best thing about my dress was… “How it made me feel.”

I wish I had known before dress shopping that… “It would be exciting and make me feel amazing.”
