Katie and Joseph are both in the police and met at work, and also on the dating app, Bumble. “Our first date was in March 2023 and we walked my dogs at Lydiard Park in Swindon,” says Katie. “Joseph proposed at Cornwell Manor, in Chipping Norton, in February 2024. It features in the film, The Holiday, one of my favourites, which is why he chose it.”

Finding ‘The One’ at wed2b Swindon

“My experience at wed2b’s Swindon store was great,” says Katie. “My sister came with me and it was nice and quiet instore. I tried on a range of dresses and ended up picking one I didn’t expect to pick. I absolutely fell in love! The store assistant was welcoming and not pushy at all. My mum visited from Leeds the week after and the store assistant was happy for us to come in again, to re-live the experience!”

Katie chose Lidia, a gorgeous tea-length design with lace sleeves, by Anna Sorrano. “It was not what I expected to go for at all, but I fell in love,” she says. “I loved the long sleeves and the length of the dress, as well as the beautiful details. It made me feel like a princess. I added a wed2b belt, which my mum had worn for her big day, and I also bought a robe for the morning of the wedding.”

Choosing the perfect dog friendly wedding venue

The couple married at Eastington Park, a Grade II listed manor house in Stroud, in March 2025. “We chose it because it was so beautiful and private, as well as being dog friendly and well priced,” says Katie.

“I got ready in the dressing room at Eastington Park,” says Katie. “The weather was cold but sunny. I got ready alone initially, but was helped by my mum, maid of honour and a friend. Then my dad walked me down the aisle to ‘I Guess I’m In Love’ by Clinton Kane.”

“After the ceremony there were canapés and drinks and then we had photos and a band playing,” says Katie. “Later, there was a choice of meals for our wedding breakfast. Our first dance song was 'If You Love Her’ by Forest Blakk, as we loved the words.”

The warm Autumn wedding colour palette

“Our colour scheme was burgundy, peach, orange and cream,” says Katie. “I just love these colours! We had a floral hoop, flowers on the spiral staircase and lots of other decorations. My husband also made all of the signage.”

“The wedding cake was three tiered, with layers of chocolate, red velvet and Victoria sponge. For entertainment, we had a band in the day and a DJ and selfie pod in the evening.”

Can dogs attend all wedding venues?

No, not all venues allow dogs. Always check with the venue about pet policies, indoor restrictions and insurance requirements.

What should dogs wear to a wedding?

Simple collars, floral leads, or bow ties are ideal. Avoid anything restrictive or uncomfortable for them to wear all day.

How do I keep my dogs calm on the big day?

Bring familiar toys, give them breaks, and assign a trusted handler to keep them settled during the ceremony and photos.
