This is Ireland though, so the perfect wedding dresses for hot weather also need to be adaptable. So look for summer bridal dresses that work well with a lace jacket or faux fur shrug in the evening. Plus, if it’s looking like blazing sunshine all day, another top tip is to add an underskirt to stop your skirt sticking to your legs. Trust us, it works!

A dreamy wedding dress summer

So, if you’re heading abroad to somewhere sunny or you’re planning a Irish wedding for the summer months, you’ll love our selection of cooler wedding dresses for hot weather. We guarantee it’ll be easy to stay chilled in one of these gorgeous designs!

Wedding dresses for hot weather...

A boho free spirit

When it comes to wedding dresses for hot weather, pretty Ffion is the perfect choice. It combines lightweight chiffon with elegant understated lace and delicate embellished spaghetti straps. It also has a carefree boho feel that’s perfect for the beach, a sunny woodland or a idyllic garden setting.

The bodice has a charming V-neck with beautifully intricate matt lace, featuring dreamy patterns inspired by nature. There’s also modern tape lace edging and, of course, a touch of detail on the slim straps.

The flattering low back has more exquisite lace, leading to a smart tape lace waistline. We love this with one of our more boho belts, such as sparkling Estella with its clusters of crystals and pearls. Lastly, there’s the light chiffon skirt, which flows beautifully and will keep you lovely and cool.

Pretty lace and tulle

Alternatively, there’s no need to compromise your search for a detailed dress, just because you’re looking for wedding dresses for hot weather. Blush Iana has it all, a beautiful lace bodice, exquisite off-the-shoulder straps and a fabulous tulle skirt.

The sweetheart bodice with draped of-the-shoulder straps will keep you nice and cool, especially if you go for a chic updo to keep your hair off your neckline (just don’t forget the suncream!).

The detailed lace decorates the flattering straps and then falls prettily down the gorgeous skirt. The low back will also help you feel comfortable in the heat, while the full skirt with modern box pleats is simple but elegant and has plenty of movement, especially when you add a bouncy underskirt.

Understated style

Coreena has a more classic feel but is equally suited to the hot weather. The super soft tulle skirt is light and airy, while the slim illusion straps and matt lace on the bodice complete the understated design.

Take a closer look at the beautifully embellished lace and you’ll see it has a combination of floral and modern ‘cross-hatching’ motifs on top of intricate Chantilly lace. There’s a gentle matt finish too, for a look that’s enhancing rather than overpowering.

At the back, the low-key appeal continues with a gentle scoop neckline and lovely lacing for a great fit. You can also see how the illusion straps really allow the lace detail to ‘pop’ against the skin. Finally, there’s the simple tulle skirt, which flows beautifully but will help to keep you cool and comfortable. It also makes the cut for our list of ‘cooler wedding dresses for hot weather’ because you can add an underskirt, which will stop the fabric sticking to your legs if the temperature rises.

Minimalist elegance

From the front, Gaia looks like a deceptively simple sheath, all beautiful soft crepe and clean lines. But turn around and you’ll reveal plenty of stunning contemporary detailing…

The V-neck illusion back has the perfect amount of detail for this modern design. It’s paired with slim, embellished spaghetti straps and an elegant row of covered buttons that lead the eye down the sleek skirt.

The V-neckline at the front complements the back and works beautifully with the understated straps. The neat waistband is also calling out for a fabulous belt for a little extra definition and sparkle.

Lastly, you have the simple elegance of the crepe skirt and the modern puddle train. Crepe is ideal for warmer weather, as it skims curves without clinging, and has great lightweight movement. It’s sleek, simple and beautifully sophisticated, just like this stunning design.

Simple summer wedding dresses...

Eye-catching shimmer

Adelaide is another great style for basking in the warm sunshine. The on-trend, off-the-shoulder straps mean your shoulders and arms are uncovered. It also shows that boho is not the only way to go for the summer months. This contemporary wedding dress for hot weather is ideal for modern brides looking for something classic with catwalk-style touches.

The sleek Mikado fabric has just the right amount of shimmer to sparkle in the sun, while still having a pared-back modern feel. The smart cuff neckline is also super flattering for all figures.

The cuff detail continues onto the back and then the Mikado flows out from the neat waistband into a magnificent train. Add a glittering Leonie belt to accentuate the waistline and don’t forget to try the underskirt trick here too, to keep your cool.

Modern magic

When it comes to simple summer wedding dresses, contemporary Reid really is a design with a difference. Made from elegant and comfortable crepe, the square neckline, ultra-low angular back and figure-shaping illusion panels give it a dynamic, modern feel.

There are also clever design details and some beautiful craftsmanship on display here, which elevate this deceptively simple dress. For example, the illusion panels at the side help to sculpt the figure, as do the princess seams that run down the length of the skirt.

Meanwhile, the attractively low back is a key catwalk trend that’s ideal for warmer weather. The straight edges mirror the square neckline at the front and make this design feel very different from many other scooped back dresses. Then we have the stylish train, which is not too big and not too small. Wear this with our smoothing, low-back Wunderskirt for a little more volume, add a touch of glitter at the waist, and you’ll feel fabulous whatever the weather!

Make the cut

Faythe is another daring look straight from the bridal catwalks, and one we know our fashion-loving brides will adore. Combining a plunging V-neck with a modern illusion neckline, it offers coverage and style all rolled into one.

This design looks simple, however, it’s anything but. The well-cut silhouette flatters the figure from every angle, with the under-arm illusion panels creating a subtle sculpting effect. The plunging neckline also looks daring but – take another look – and you’ll see there’s actually plenty of coverage from the high illusion neckline and the pretty scattered crystals.

At the back there’s another V-neck (to mirror the front of the bodice) that’s also attractively low and leads the eye to the beautifully fitted skirt. This silhouette works well with a modern sparkling belt to highlight the waistline. Finally, there’s the small but elegant train, which is perfect for summer wedding dresses, as you don’t want to be swathed in too much fabric. This is just the right amount to feel like a bride!

Simple styling for warmer weather

Lastly, Elton is a Mikado masterpiece that will keep you comfortable and elegant as the temperature rises. The catwalk-inspired bodice, with its cuff detail and chic paneling, gives this dress a truly luxurious feel.

Elton has a couture-style internal lacing, which will comfortably support you all day long. And, if that’s not enough, it’s also one of our first gowns to be made from 50% recycled fabrics and yarns!

The glossy ballgown skirt features neat princess seams that flow effortlessly into the voluminous box pleats and are perfect for wearing with one of our underskirts. Try it with a traditional tulle veil to complete the look.

Our real brides’ summer wedding dresses…

Summer is peak wedding season, so we asked some of our brilliant real brides how they chose their summer bridal dresses…

An outdoor wedding in the sun

Warm sunshine and an outdoor setting were the perfect combination for this lovely tipi wedding. “It was the hottest day of the year, so far, and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky,” says Emily. “I visited WED2B’s Middlesbrough store and I loved the very first dress I tried on. I picked Florian, as it was satin, corset style and, best of all, it had pockets!”

A Polish destination wedding

Marta and Benjamin had a destination wedding in Poland and she chose a sparkling, off-the-shoulder ball gown. “I loved the elaborate lace embroidery, inspired by butterflies and tiny bees in an English garden, and the contemporary details” says Marta. “It was ideal for the style of wedding I had envisioned. I simply knew it would be a showstopper.”

A delightful garden setting

Lisa and Simon married at Edgbaston Park Hotel. “The hotel has a lovely venue in the grounds called Hornton Grange and the old stately feel, combined with the contemporary modern touches, made it our perfect venue. The gardens are also absolutely beautiful and, on the day, the weather was stunning.”

“I saw my dream wedding dress for hot weather, Winona, on a mannequin at WED2B’s Wednesbury store,” says Lisa. “It was love at first sight and when I tried her on she fitted like a glove. I also added a glittering belt. I loved the figure-hugging fit and the detailed lacework. Winona made me feel beautiful.”

And, don’t forget, the second dress…

Finally, when it comes to summer bridal dresses and wedding dresses for hot weather, remember you can always change it up for the evening, just like our real bride Izzy did.

A shorter style or something simple and strapless with less detailing is a great choice, and means you can relax on the beach, dip your toes in the pool or dance the hot summer night away in total comfort!
