How Jennifer and Craig met

Every great romance has a beginning and, for Jennifer and Craig, it started at the school gates. After meeting in the playground of the school their children attended, their relationship blossomed into a beautiful blended family.

“Craig was so supportive,” says Jennifer. “I knew he was ‘The One’ when I realised he always helped me when I needed it. He’s a lovely, caring person and is always there for m. He loves making me feel happy and special every day.”

A festive proposal in Edinburgh

Craig planned a December proposal that perfectly matched the romance of the festive season. "We went to Edinburgh for the day on a beautiful Pullman train,” says Jennifer.

Later, surrounded by the charm of the historic city and the magical winter setting, Craig chose the perfect moment to ask Jennifer to marry him.

Finding the dress at the Bolton store

When it came to finding her wedding dress, Jennifer discovered wed2b through Facebook and decided to visit the Bolton store. From the moment she arrived she was welcomed by the friendly team who helped make the experience enjoyable and relaxed.

Jennifer tried on several gowns before finding the one that truly stood out. “The ladies were really helpful and made the experience so special,” she says. "Being open to trying different styles meant I eventually found a gown that exceeded all my expectations."

The Dua wedding dress

Jennifer chose the stunning Dua wedding dress by Sofia Cruz. It features a beautifully fitted mermaid silhouette in luxe Mikado, designed to highlight a bride’s natural shape, sleek off-the-shoulder straps and a contemporary straight neckline.

It’s the ideal look for brides searching for fitted wedding dresses or elegant bridal gowns with a sophisticated, modern edge and Jennifer loved the gown’s flattering shape. “It was fitted and looked stunning when I tried it on,” she says. “It made my figure look amazing.”

To elevate the elegant design further, she also paired the dress with a sparkling diamanté belt and a delicate veil, adding just the right amount of bridal shimmer.

Their wedding at Beeston Manor, a well-known Lancashire country house wedding venue, showcased how festive styling can transform a rustic barn into a magical winter setting.

A stunning country house venue surrounded by picturesque views, Beeston Manor has warm, welcoming interiors and a beautifully converted 16th Century barn, complete with original oak beams.

For Jennifer and Craig, it provided the perfect backdrop for their Beeston Manor real wedding. It offered accommodation, home-cooked food, plenty of grand photo opportunities and a cozy, intimate atmosphere that was ideal for the Christmas theme.

The wedding morning

Jennifer and Craig’s wedding day began bright and early at 7:30am, when they arrived at the venue to bring their festive vision to life. Before the celebrations began, the couple spent the morning decorating the space themselves, with Jennifer’s son Daniel.

Preparing the Christmas décor

They set up the venue with Christmas trees, lights and lots of personalised details. “I am so glad we picked all the 20 Christmas trees specially ourselves and added our own individual touch to the wedding, as it looked beautiful,” says Jennifer. “Dressing the venue ourselves made it even more special when we got married, as it looked magical and we had lots of Christmas trees and lights everywhere!”

Getting ready with family and the bridal party

Later, Jennifer got ready for the ceremony with her bridesmaid Natalie, her son’s girlfriend, along with her makeup artist and hairdresser. Although it was a winter wedding, the weather was perfect for the occasion. “The weather was chilly but dry and we had a lovely sunset, which was ideal for the photos,” says Jennifer. “It was an amazing day.”

A beautiful winter ceremony

One of the most emotional moments of Jennifer and Craig’s civil ceremony came when Jennifer’s son, Daniel, proudly walked her down the aisle, something she will always treasure.

To add to the romantic atmosphere there was a harpist who performed live music as guests took their seats and throughout the service. The couple also included a personalised reading that they wrote themselves, making the ceremony feel uniquely theirs.

Celebrating the newlyweds

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed drinks and canapés and there was a confetti celebration, which marked the start of the festivities. Then the newlyweds spent time taking photos around the venue with their photographer, capturing the joy and excitement of the day.

Christmas wedding décor ideas

Jennifer and Craig embraced a festive theme that felt both elegant and fun. Their colour palette featured cream and gold, along with monochrome tones, and they made a lot of the details themselves. "We designed everything from the bespoke mirrored cake stand to the favours, Christmas trees, chair sashes, table centrepieces and decorations,” says Jenifer. “We also had a Christmas tree arch with an illuminated sign of our names.”

Festive styling included:

  • Twinkling fairy lights
  • 20 hand-picked Christmas trees
  • White rose bouquets and buttonholes
  • Elegant seasonal decorations in gold, cream and monochrome
  • A bespoke mirrored cake stand
  • Warm lighting to create a cosy atmosphere
  • A Christmas tree arch with illuminated names

The combination of Christmas elements, DIY creativity and elegant styling made their wedding feel truly individual - perfect for other couples looking for unique Christmas wedding ideas or winter wedding inspiration.

Favourite moment of the wedding

For Jennifer, one of the most poignant moments came during the wedding breakfast, when she finally had the chance to pause and take everything in.

Watching their loved ones enjoying the celebration was an unforgettable experience. “My favourite moment was when we all sat down for the wedding breakfast and I looked around at everyone having a fantastic time,” she says. “Seeing everyone so happy made the day so special.”

Advice for future brides

Jennifer’s top tip for those currently planning? Being open to trying different styles. “Go with the flow and try different dresses,” she says. “You’ll know the moment you find ‘The One’. Mine was the third dress I tried on."
