Nikki and Sam met online in May 2015. “I’m originally from Wolverhampton and Sam is from Manchester,” says Nikki. “I had just finished university in Manchester and was about to move back to my parents’ house in Wolverhampton. Luckily, Sam was actually studying at Aston Uni there."
"So, it worked out perfectly for the first few years of our relationship, as we were in the same city. Our first date was at a cocktail bar called The Font in Manchester. Four hours of chatting felt like five minutes.”
A romantic proposal in Italy
Sam proposed after the couple had been together for about four years.
“Sam surprised me with a trip to Sorrento and Rome in August 2019,” says Nikki.
“He proposed on a beach in Positano on the Amalfi coast, as the sun was setting. He asked me to turn around from taking photos and he was on one knee. A bar on the beach started playing ‘Marry You’ by Bruno Mars and this became another one of our songs.”
Shopping for the dress
“I actually had a WED2B bridesmaid dress, from my friend’s wedding, and fell in love with so many of the dresses,” says Nikki. “The lady who served me at the Wednesbury store was also fantastic and ended up pushing me to try on my wild card dress. It was a corset and strapless style, which was the dress I chose.” Nikki chose the classic 'Esther' wedding dress.
"As I was having two dresses - one for my Hindu ceremony and one for the civil ceremony - I knew I wanted two different looks,” says Nikki. “My Indian outfit was heavy and decked out with bling, so I wanted my English wedding dress to be different."
"My favourite part was the pockets!”
A Nantwich wedding venue
The couple got married on 26th June 2022. "Our Nantwich wedding venue was perfect, as we had exclusive use for the whole day,” says Nikki. “There was a bridal prep room and also a groom's cottage for us both to use. I felt like I’d arrived home when I got there."
The big day
“We had a fusion wedding, with both Indian and English elements throughout the day,” says Nikki.
“However, we also made sure it was special to us. We chose readings that members of both of families took part in. Sam’s family did the traditional groom’s arrival for the Hindu ceremony, too. The most special part was watching the fireworks at the end of the night, and having all our family and friends around us.”
“After the civil ceremony we had a light lunch, which was a mix of fusion food, plated food with an Indian twist,” says Nikki. “This was followed by the Hindu ceremony. Later, we danced to ‘Heaven’ for our first dance.”
The best bits…
“The most memorable moments of the whole day were seeing all our family and friends together."
My top tips…
“Just don’t stress the small details!” says Nikki. “
