What are satin wedding dresses?
Satin is a woven fabric with a smooth surface. It has a high sheen on one side with a gorgeous lustre that catches the light. There are different weights and grades of satin and heavier ones, such as Duchess and Matt, are used to create stiffer silhouettes. Thinner satins, such as Charmeuse and Double-Faced, are often used for a more fluid, draped effect.
It’s a very traditional fabric for bridal gowns but it’s also super versatile. So it looks equally fabulous when used for a slinky, contemporary gown as it does when used for a classic style.
