Every bride wants her wedding dress to look stunning and be super flattering. So, if you’re looking for something with a soft prettiness, that’s also great at disguising lump and bumps, why not consider a pleated wedding dress?
Soft pleats in chiffon, tulle or satin are ideal when it comes to creating a smooth silhouette or skimming prettily over the hips and tummy area. Decorated with pretty lace and appliqués they can look oh-so pretty or keep it simple with plain pleats in sleek satin or chiffon for a beautifully contemporary look.
Below we’ve picked four of our favourite pleated designs, in a range of different styles, so you can see just how versatile a pleated wedding dress can be. As far as we're concerned, we want more pleats, please!
The ripple effect
Adina is a structured sheath that’s great for figures of all shapes and sizes. It features a stunning asymmetric pleated bodice and a striking cut-out train, which is a chic contemporary addition to this classic look.
Oh-so sweet
The gorgeous sweetheart bodice features flattering illusion cap sleeves overlaid with exquisite embroidered lace. The asymmetric detailing at the hips skims beautifully over the curves and is designed to draw you in neatly at the waist.
Subtle shimmer
Look closer and you’ll see the exquisite detailing on the embroidery, as well as the subtle shimmering beading. The structured chiffon sheath is also lined in satin, so it’s flattering, comfortable and supportive.
A mixture of satin and lace
The wide illusion lace straps continue on to the back, framing the shoulders. The luxurious satin lacing looks divine and helps to pull the bodice in for the perfect fit across the waist and hips.
Add some sparkle
For beautiful classic styling, try this dress with our Leonie belt and traditional Willa veil. Then just add a delicate Safia comb into your hair and you’re ready to go!
A cut above
Finally, the most eye-catching detail is the amazing cut-out train. There’s no need to wear an underskirt with this design, just relax and let the stunning train do all the work. Alternatively, for a different style with a lace train, take a look at Dara or Eleanor instead.
Low-key elegance
A pleated wedding dress can also look amazing with just a hint of embellishment, and Phillipa is the perfect example. The subtle lace detailing here works beautifully with the softly pleated Mikado fabric to create a look that’s totally contemporary.
A flattering boat neckline
The bodice features an on-trend boat neckline, a royal favourite, which provides plenty of stylish coverage.
Layers of lace
Take a closer look and you’ll see the elegantly layered embroidered and Chantilly floral lace, which add subtle but understated detail to the bodice.
On-trend design
The sexy low back is another key trend that’s offset by the high neckline at the front, giving brides who want a little coverage the best of both worlds.
Clean-cut lines
The detailing continues a little down the waist before making way for rippling Mikado fabric, which flares out beautifully to the floor, creating a magnificent silhouette.
The finishing touch
Try this dress with our breathtaking Nova belt and you won’t be disappointed, we promise. It also looks amazing with our London veil, which is covered with a scattering of chic appliqués. If you’re looking for similar dresses with subtle detailing, take a look at Georgia too.
Ruffles and pleats aplenty!
We just adore the fun, bouncy waterfall effect of this ball gown skirt. Combined with the softly pleated bodice, it’s elegant, romantic and truly delightful.
Beautiful ruched tulle
The fitted sweetheart bodice is covered in ruched tulle and also features pretty tulle straps. This creates a classic shape that's great for all body types.
Softly does it
The delicate tulle has been pleated for a gentle, traditional look that’s very flattering and skims lightly over any lumps and bumps.
Understated style
The back is the epitome of simple chic. There’s the stylish straps along with a low back and a neat row of covered buttons. Simple and elegant!
Tasteful accessories
This pleated wedding dress can be dressed up or down to suit your style. Here we’ve added our stunning Solstice belt, which will highlight your waist and provide all the wow factor you need. Then we’ve kept it simple with our classic Willa veil in plain tulle.
Full of movement
This layered waterfall skirt is just to die for! You can also accentuate the cascading ripples by doubling up on our 153 and 163 underskirts. Despite its voluminous and complicated look, this skirt can easily be shortened by a seamstress too, if need be. Finally, if you’ve now fallen in love with sumptuous skirts like this one, then you might like Rochelle and Brit too.
