These happy newlyweds chose a hotel and spa wedding venue in the heart of Ayrshire for their big day...

Abbey and Craig has known each other for a while before getting together. “Craig’s brother and I worked together for years and that led to an amazing friendship with Craig and his family,” says Abbey. “After about three years we were inseparable. So, we decided it was finally time to go on a lovely overnight stay to the Radstone Hotel in Larkhall, where we had dinner and drinks and enjoyed each others company.”

A romantic proposal

Three years later Craig took Abbey back to the same hotel. “Craig decided that we should book a trip away, our first since the Covid lockdowns, and get all dressed up and have a nice night together,” says Abbey.

“Before dinner, we went for a walk around the grounds. We stoped by a lovely bridge in front of a water fountain to take our picture, then Craig dropped to one knee. He was playing our favourite song and he asked me to marry him. After saying yes we turned around to see both our families behind us, cheering us on!”

Shopping for the dress

“I found wed2b online and loved every single dress, so it was only right I visited,” says Abbey. “All the staff at the Glasgow store were amazing and couldn’t be more helpful. I went with my mum and mother-in-law and the staff helped me pick out the most beautiful dresses to try on. I fell in love with the first one and then the girls chose lots of accessories to dress it up, including a cathedral-length veil and everything else to go with it. The compliments I received and the help all the staff gave me was amazing. I even took my bridesmaids and my flower girls back to buy their dresses and again the staff were fantastic."

Abbey chose Kelsey, a lace mermaid with striking illusion back and train. “I loved the mermaid style, the blush undertones and the dramatic train,” says Abbey. “This dress made me feel like a total princess and I absolutely loved it. My bridesmaids all had different navy dresses from wed2b and each and every style was beautiful and made them feel like a million dollars.”

A hotel and spa wedding venue

The couple married on 29th April at Lochside House, a hotel and spa wedding venue. “The venue reflected us perfectly,” says Abbey. “It was very modern and, in fact, breathtaking. I would recommend this hotel and spa venue to anyone. It’s the sister hotel to the Radstone, which we loved, and it exceeded all our expectations.”

The big day

“The morning of my wedding was just perfect,” says Abbey. “I got ready in the venue’s dressing room with my seven bridesmaids, maid of honour, step-daughter, mum, mother-in-law and all our aunties. It was amazing. My dad then met me at the dressing room once I was ready and his face was something I will never forget. I walked down the aisle to my mum’s best friend singing ‘I Guess I’m in Love’ by Clinton Kane. It was the most perfect moment.”

Straight after the humanist ceremony the newlyweds went to have some pictures taken while guests enjoyed a drinks reception. “We had a violinist playing for everyone,” says Abbey. “Our first dance song was “In Case You Didn’t Know’ by Brett Young. This is the most perfect song and we just love it.”

Pretty soft pink and navy

“Our colour scheme was a mix of pinks and navy,” says Abbey. “My dress had pink undertones, so my bridesmaids wore navy for a stylish contrast. A girl I went to school with, and have known for a very long time, made our lovely cake. Our DJ was Steve Courtney from Heart Radio. He was great, he had the perfect mix for everyone and had the crowd up all night.”

The best bits…

“The most memorable moment of the whole day was standing at the bottom of the aisle, ready to walk down, knowing all my dreams had come to life,” says Abbey.

My top tips…

“My top tip for future brides is to take in every single moment,” says Abbey. “Also, ask someone to video you coming down the aisle and make sure you get pictures with all your family members taken on someone’s phone, as these were the things I missed afterwards.”
