Beccy and Kenny met nine years ago through a friend on Instagram. “We chatted for a month or so, then he came to visit me,” says Beccy. “We just sat talking all night, getting drunk in my kitchen. Classy!”

Kenny proposed in Rome, while they were on a trip to celebrate Beccy’s 30th birthday, . “We were in the Vatican City and we had just seen the Pope give his speech,” says Beccy. “Kenny bent down on one knee and all I could say was, ‘Are you joking? Are you joking?’. I obviously eventually said, ‘Yes!’. It was the most beautiful and special trip ever.”

Shopping for the dream dress

A friend suggested WED2B to Beccy. “My mum, my sister and I visited the Milton Keynes’ store,” says Beccy. “I was expecting to just try on some dresses for ideas and to get a feel for what I wanted, before coming back another time. However, I picked it that day and went home with my dress! The staff were amazing, picking out dresses I’d not actually spotted yet. I loved my experience and recommend WED2B to a lot of friends getting married."

“My dress was Mackenzie and I also chose a veil and hair clip from WED2B. I absolutely loved the sleeves and buttons at the back. The illusion neckline was the perfect match for my skin tone too, so it blended really well. I felt amazing in it!”

“We got married in our village church, which you can see from our house,” says Beccy. “It’s extremely special to us, as my husband’s mum and dad have sadly passed away and their headstones are there."

"Our reception was at Holmewood Hall in Cambridgeshire. We originally planned to have the ceremony there, too. However, after postponing the wedding by a year because of Covid, we had more time to think and we went for the church instead. Holmewood Hall is absolutely stunning! It was our number one choice of venue.”

The big day

“I got ready at home, as it’s 30 seconds away from the church,” says Beccy. “I was with my mum and my five bridesmaids. The weather was gorgeous and sunny, after we’d had a spell of bad weather, so it couldn’t of been more perfect."

"My dad has sadly passed away, so my grandad walked me down the aisle. I walked down to the same orchestral song that Bella walks down the aisle to in Twilight. My sister and my best friend did readings. I think the most special part was my grandad walking me down the aisle.”

After the ceremony, the newlyweds were driven to Holmewood Hall for cocktails and canapés. “Everyone chatted outside in the gorgeous sunshine,” says Beccy. “Our first dance song was to ‘Only Exception’ by Paramore. I loved our first dance, it was a lot less daunting than I expected it to be! Then we had the best DJ. He let us give him a huge list of songs we love, to get everyone on the dance floor,”

A spring colour palette

“We went for a spring colour palette, with greens, pinks, creams and whites,” says Beccy. “My bridesmaids were all in different dresses but with that spring colour palette. I just wanted them to all feel pretty and not forced into a dress they didn’t like! They all looked stunning.”

“I made our wedding cake,” says Beccy. “I made my sister's too, so I decided I’d do ours. It had three-tiers of lemon sponge and was decorated with gold leaf. It made us feel even more special that I’d made it. I also made our table plan and wedding postbox. I’m actually on maternity leave so, while the baby sleeps, I’ve been wedding crafting and doing as much admin as I can.”

My favourite moments

“I loved the speeches, they were so good,” says Beccy. “They were the perfect mixture of hilarious and sentimental. I also just loved dancing in the evening. All the scary stressful bits were over and we could just crazy dance and get drunk!”

My top tips….

“Do little bits of admin whenever you have five minutes,” says Beccy. “Little and often. Don’t leave things and stress out. People stress so much over the little things that no one even notices anyway, so just breathe. It will all be okay on the day."
