Jennifer and Colin’s romantic Paris elopement
These newlyweds chose a magical Paris elopement and an intimate sunrise ceremony. Our WED2B Real Weddings feature reveals more…
Jennifer and Colin met while they were at school but didn’t get together until a few years later, when they met again at a party. “Something just clicked between us and there was a spark straight away,” says Jennifer.
“We had been together for three years when Colin proposed in November 2018. We were in Cyprus on holiday, celebrating our birthdays. He proposed on our balcony at sunset, looking out at the ocean. He had put together a book of photos of our favourite memories, along with the lyrics of our favourite songs. When I got to the last photo, I looked up and he was on one knee with the ring. I was so shocked and emotional. I said, 'Yes' and then cried for about an hour! It was such a beautiful night."
Shopping for the dress
Jenifer headed to Glasgow WED2B for her dress. “I discovered WED2B online,” she says. “My store experience was simply incredible. I dealt with Eve and she made everything so easy and made me feel incredibly special when I tried on my dress. It was so stress free and I walked out that day with my dress, all boxed up and ready to travel to Paris for our wedding.”
“I chose the Bruna dress,” says Jennifer. “I had already seen it online and had my heart set on it. When I tried it on, it fitted perfectly, no alterations needed. I also loved the sheath silhouette and the long train.” (For similar styles try Rion, Niah or Drew)
A Paris elopement
“We eloped to Paris for our wedding and had a ceremony at the Eiffel Tower,” says Jennifer. “We wanted to go away, just the two of us, and have an amazing trip at the same time.”
The couple married on 23rd March 2022. “Our ceremony was at sunrise,” says Jennifer. “We had to be there early to catch the sunrise and before it started getting busy with tourists, so I was up at 4am in the morning. I felt so relaxed and chilled while doing my own hair and makeup."
"Then we were picked up at 6:30am and had some photos taken at the Eiffel Tower, just while the sun was coming up before our ceremony. Our officiant wrote our beautiful personal vows and we had a hand-fasting ceremony to tie the knot. The weather was perfect, the sunrise was beautiful and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky the whole morning.”
Photos around the city
“After the ceremony we went to two other locations in Paris, the Louvre museum and the Luxembourg Gardens, for our wedding photos. We then went back to our hotel and FaceTimed all our friends and family to surprise them with our news.”
“Later, we went for a lovely Parisian lunch and sat outside in the sun overlooking the Eiffel Tower, sipping cocktails and wine,” says Jennifer. “It was very chilled out.”
Happy memories…
“The sunrise at the Eiffel Tower and our hand-fasting ceremony were my most memorable moments. It was like an actual dream, I couldn’t believe it was real.”
Top tips…
“Try to relax and be in the moment,” says Jennifer. “And do exactly what is right for you both. Remember that your wedding day is all about you both and no one else.”
