Real Weddings Liverpool: Laura and Nathan’s countryside wedding

Laura and Nathan first met in 2009. “We were at college and met at my cousin’s house, as my cousin was dating Nathan’s best friend,” says Laura. “At our wedding, my cousin was my bridesmaid and her partner was our best man.”

A magical Disney proposal

The couple got engaged in front of the castle at Disneyland Paris on 30th December 2017. “I cried so much that Nathan had to ask me again if it was a yes!” says Laura. “I was just so happy and it was a dream come true.”

Wedding dresses Liverpool

Laura started her dream dress search in Liverpool. “I had previously visited another wedding dresses Liverpool shop but I left crying, feeling as though I would never find a dress to suit me. All of the dresses were large sizes and I had to be clamped into them, so none of them looked right at all. We just spent the day laughing at how silly I looked.” 

“When I visited WED2B in Liverpool I was able to try on every single dress in my size and see exactly how they look on me. It was absolutely amazing! The ladies were so helpful and I loved every single part of my experience. I now tell anyone I know who gets engaged to go to WED2B."

"I chose the Archer dress. This was really the first dress I tried on. Everybody cried and, after trying on many more, I went back to this one. A dream venue

The couple married at Bashall Barn in Clitheroe. “We visited around 15 venues and just never got ‘that feeling’ when we arrived,” says Laura. “Until we went to Bashall. The views just sold it to us and we knew this was where we wanted to marry. We booked our wedding for 1st August 2020 but then, due to the pandemic, we had to postpone our wedding for another year.” 

The big day

“Our day was just amazing,” says Laura. “I know everybody must say this but it truly was. After postponing and then still not knowing if the wedding would go ahead and with how many guests, to just have our day as a normal day was so magical."

"We literally smiled the whole day and had no nerves or worries. We were just so appreciative to finally be there and be able to marry. 

Soft greens and countryside views

“We had a green/pampas wedding theme,” says Laura. “I designed and made all of the stationary and my dad made the wedding post box, seating plan and ring box."

"It was all very personal and special. I made gift bags for all of the children, that were filled with toys and fun activities to help them enjoy their day. We also had a beautiful four-tier, semi-naked wedding cake.”

All together at last...

"My dad walked me down the aisle to ‘Halo’ by Beyoncé, a song that he loves and requested himself,” says Laura. “We wanted an outdoor ceremony, however it was a wet and windy day, so this wasn’t possible. The photographers said that it was the windiest wedding they’d ever photographed but that didn’t stop us getting some great photos!"

"We also had some amazing speeches before the meal and everyone just enjoyed spending time together. Especially as many guests hadn't seen each other for nearly two years. It was just the best day for everybody, after the tough few years we’d all had.”

“Just enjoy your day,” says Laura. “It truly is the most amazing day of your life, so just enjoy every single moment and take it all in.”
