This cosy wedding celebration was all about family, friends and the couple’s two young children. Our WED2B Real Weddings Liverpool feature reveals more:
Jessica and Danny met through friends in 2010. "Danny was in the army at the time, based in Germany, and he would travel home every other weekend to see me,” says Jessica. “We went bowling for our first date, followed by the cinema. Then we met the friends who introduced us at the pub.”
Asking the question…
The couple got engaged in June 2011 by a bench overlooking the countryside that they used to visit at the beginning of their relationship. “Danny had written a long love letter, which was very romantic,” says Jessica. “I wasn't too surprised, as I had an idea he was going to propose. We then had a seven year engagement, as we had two children in between. We wanted to wait until we could afford a wedding and our children could be a big part of it.”
Finding the dress
Jessica bought her wedding dress in February 2018 from WED2B’s Liverpool store. “I loved my store experience The lady who helped me, Helen, was really helpful and friendly,” she says. “I was able to try on lots of dresses so I could choose my favourite. The dress I eventually chose, Summer by Heidi Hudson, wasn't one I had picked myself. Helen found it for me and I knew as soon as I tried it on that it was the perfect dress. I loved its boho style. My daughter Faye was my only bridesmaid and she wore an ivory dress to match mine.”
A town hall wedding venue
The couple married on 21st July 2018 and the venue was their local town hall in St Helens. “We chose a town hall wedding as the ceremony room was lovely and cosy and it was easy for everyone to get to,” says Jessica. “We wanted an intimate wedding and it was important that the children were very involved.” There were 60 guests for the ceremony and the couple’s two children, three-year-old Faye and five-year-old Owen, walked down the aisle together followed by the bride and her father. “Our favourite memory was involving the children in our vows and Owen presenting our rings,” says Jessica.
Boho chic styling
The wedding was held at 5:30pm so, after the photographs, everyone went straight to the reception for a buffet and dancing. “Our theme was a touch of boho and I decorated the room with wooden log slices, jars filled with fairy lights and hessian bunting,” says Jessica. “It was all about family and having fun without being too formal. We danced our first dance to ‘The Sweetest Feeling’ by Jackie Wilson and then we danced the night away with all our family and friends. My only advice to other brides is just to enjoy every minute, as it goes so fast. There’s nothing I would change about our day, it was perfect!”
