Bethany and Stein Pietersen first met on social media. “He took an 11-hour bus journey to meet me for the first time,” says Bethany. “The next day we went out for brunch to get to know each other better.” Stein proposed on 22nd December 2018, the couple’s one-year anniversary. “We were at a Miller and Carter restaurant,” says Bethany. “He took me to a private room after dinner and gave me a couple of presents and a card. Then he said the most beautiful speech before getting down on one knee and asking me to marry him."
Shopping for the dress
“I went to Rotherham WED2B and I had THE best experience,” says Bethany. “It was so much fun, I could have spent all day there! The store was amazing, everyone was so friendly and the staff made me feel calm and at ease when it came to knowing what I wanted. The Tara dress I chose wasn’t what I'd pictured in my mind but it was just perfect for me. My sister said something was missing from it and it was the belt. So, we added a little bit of bling and it was the dream dress I never knew I dreamt about! I fell in love with it because it made me feel so elegant and classy, but sexy too. The pockets were the feature I loved the most, I got so excited about them!”
A wedding reception in West Yorkshire
“My husband is from Swansea, so it was hard to choose somewhere,” says Bethany. “My mum, sister and I went to Bagden Hall for a wedding fair, while I had Stein on FaceTime, and we fell in love with the place. I knew it was the one for us. It was rustic and grand and I could envisage our wedding reception in West Yorkshire having everything my husband and I talked about. It had small cute features too, like the kissing bridge, which I loved.”
The big day
The couple married on 9th November 2019. “My amazing dad walked me down the aisle, accompanied by orchestral music, to finally marry my best friend,” says Bethany. “After the ceremony canapés and drinks were served to everyone while we had photos taken. It was lovely and sunny, so everyone came outside to watch and take pictures.”
The look of love
The theme for the day was navy and rose gold. “I love rose gold and because my ring is rose gold I had to choose that colour,” says Bethany. “We had a rustic theme, so there were loads and loads of candles. We also had wooden blocks and foliage on the top table. And, of course, a candy cart and a doughnut wall! The cake was a masterpiece, there was so much chocolate. Thinking about it now, I could eat it again! It had chocolate from top to bottom with chocolate pieces everywhere. It wasn’t the most traditional wedding cake but it was perfect for us.”
So many great moments…
“Everything was a highlight,” says Bethany, “but the best one was saying, ‘I do’ to the rest of my life with my best friend. My top tip is to just take everything in and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!”
