As manager of the Rotherham WED2B bridal store, Rebecca knew exactly what she wanted for her big day. Our WED2B real weddings feature reveals more:
When it came to proposing to her boyfriend Gary, Rebecca decided to take advantage of it being a leap year. “We were in bed and it was very early, as Gary was about to leave for a week away working in London,” she says. “I gave him a leather and steel bracelet with the words ‘Marry Me’ engraved on it. Gary actually didn’t say, ‘Yes’, he just laughed!”
Choices, choices…
As the manager of the Rotherham Wed2B bridal store Rebecca was spoilt for choice when it came to choosing her dress. “I bought my dress a good nine months before the wedding,” she says. “I did wonder if I was a little premature, as I knew I'd be seeing fantastic new styles coming into the store every week. However, I knew I'd found the one as I wasn't tempted to try on anything else! I chose Gracie in blush and my halo was Desire in silver, as the pearls and luminescent enamel flowers complimented the ivory lace detail on the dress perfectly. When I put it on I felt a million dollars and I loved the hourglass effect it gave my waist.”
The two bridesmaids wore sage green dresses, as it's Rebecca’s new step son Alex’s favourite colour. Poppy, the flower girl, wore WED2B’s Poppy flower girl dress – naturally! Rebecca held a bouquet of sunflowers, which was a reminder of the flowers Gary gave her on their very first date.
To the manor born
The venue was Hellaby Hall Hotel, a picturesque 17th century manor house in Rotherham. “I drive past the hall every day and the beautifully renovated, original part is breathtaking,” says Rebecca. “I feel giddy every time I go by!”
Fun and frolics
Guests arrived at 3pm for canapés and cocktails. Chocolate-covered strawberries and sparkling wine were served after the ceremony followed by a wedding breakfast of a traditional Yorkshire pie and pea supper with lashing of mashed potato, gravy and mint sauce. The couple’s first dance was to 'Gravity' by Embrace before everyone else hit the dance floor. “The celebrations extended into the following day as a lot of the guests stayed at the hotel,” says Rebecca. “Everyone had breakfast together and some people stayed on until 3pm, 24 hours after it all started. The day was very relaxed, family friendly and a lot of fun. We all had a fabulous time!”
