These newlyweds chose an elegant monochrome wedding theme, which perfectly suited their classic historic venue…

Adam and Rebekah met at a gaming convention. “We were friends for many years before we had our first date,” says Rebekah. “It was during Covid, so we spent the date building a fort and watching scary movies.”

“Adam carried the ring for weeks before deciding the best time to ask me was when I was eating an onion bhaji at home at the dining room table,” laughs Rebekah. “I was making silly jokes and we were just very content. He felt like that was a moment he could live in forever.”

Shopping for the dress

“Both my new sister-in-law and my Mum got dresses from wed2b, too,” says Rebekah. “I had a lovely experience at the Manchester store. I ended up choosing a dress from one of the mannequins, which my sister asked the staff to get down for my wildcard choice. This was despite the fact that it had many things I originally said I didn’t want!”

Rebekah chose Micah by Viva Bride, a glamorous tulle ballgown with dramatic waterfall skirt. “I loved the tulle layers and that it was simple on top but a party at the bottom,” says Rebekah. “It made me feel very special, like a princess. I also bought my hair clip and veil from wed2b, too.”

An atmospheric historic venue

The couple married at Samlesbury Hall, a 700-year-old hall in Lancashire, on 2nd December. “We wanted something typically English, timeless and beautiful in the winter, with plenty of indoor space,” says Rebekah.

The big day

“I got ready with my bridesmaids and my mum and the weather was perfect, frosty and cold,” says Rebekah. “My dad walked me down the aisle to ‘Clair du Lune’ by Debussy.”

“Afterwards, we had drinks and canapés and did family photos in the frost,” says Rebekah. “Then we enjoyed a wedding breakfast of smoked salmon to start, followed by traditional roast beef and finished with classic English apple crumble. Our first dance was to ‘Gypsy’ by Fleetwood Mac because it’s Adam‘s favourite song. This segued straight into a German rock song, so I could dance with my dad, who’s from Germany.”

A monochrome wedding

“I was very involved in the look for our monochrome wedding,” says Rebekah. “The only pop of colour we had was the bridesmaids' dresses in burgundy, everything else was black and white or evergreens. We chose this because it felt timeless and that was very important for me."

"Adam was in charge of music and the DJ. We also had a pianist for the ceremony and during the meal, which was beautiful. He played a lot of classical music and music from movies, as well as gaming piano pieces that we love.”

The best bits…

“It was all very magical, so it’s hard to pick just one memorable moment,” says Rebekah. “Adam’s speech was amazing, a true emotional rollercoaster. I enjoyed slipping the ring onto his finger, our first dance and seeing our loved ones have a nice time sharing our day.”

My top tips…

“Choose your dress based on how it makes you feel and not the reaction of the people around you,” says Rebekah. “Carefully pick suppliers and a venue with people that you trust, so you can really relax on the day.”
