Love fashion but not sure how to incorporate the latest bridal trends into your big day? Often something that looks amazing on the catwalk doesn’t translate well IRL. But never fear, we’ve found easy-to-wear versions of next year’s key looks with expert tips on how to style them…

1. Basque waists

Wedding dress designers often look to the past for interesting details and this season’s catwalks were full of Victorian-style basque waists, with a subtle nod to the 1980s’ version too. Characterised by their ‘V’ or ‘U’ shape, they come to a point below the natural waistline, stylishly elongating the figure.

This really is an easy way to wear a catwalk trend, too. Very flattering for most figures, it’s up to date but also with a touch of fairytale romance about it. Sofia Cruz gets the balance exactly right with this luxurious ballgown in sleek Mikado. The crisp fabric gives this style a contemporary feel while the rich seams on the bodice draw the eye to the beautiful waistline and lush gathered skirt. Style it with simple jewellery and a dramatic full-length veil for a minimalist modern fairytale.

2. Cat’s eye necklines

The enduring sweetheart is still going strong but for a fresh, on-trend feel why not try this season’s cat’s eye neckline, instead? Defined by sharp, angular edges that point upwards towards the collarbone and shoulders, it’s a shape that adds a contemporary element to most bridal silhouettes.

And this stunning crepe sheath is the perfect example of how it can lift an understated design. Here, figure-hugging crepe flows softly over curves and drapes down to the floor in a simple train. The sharp neckline contrasts beautifully with the softness of the fabric, giving it a crisp modern edge and enhancing the whole look.

3. Elegant draping

A draped scarf called a ‘dupatta’ has long been a part of Indian wedding outfits, and bridal designers have taken this look and run with it. Lots of designs for 2026 included beautiful scarves, worn round the neck and then draped elegantly down the back, as a modern alternative to the veil.

However, if you’re not ready to say goodbye to the veil just yet, then there are still ways to incorporate these bridal trends into your look. Aaliyah Quinn has added gorgeous shoulder bows to this glittering A-line for a stunning draped effect. What’s more, they’re detachable, so you can go strapless whenever you choose. Alternatively, for a more contemporary version, try this showstopping satin halterneck (another big neckline trend) by Sofia Cruz.

4. Lace-up details

Wedding dresses featured: Amika by Anna Sorrano and Daniela by Viva Bride

New York Bridal Fashion week saw designers push the boundaries when it comes to traditional lacing. Lace-up elements featured on the side and front of many dresses, adding a punk feel to classic designs.

If punk rock is a little too out there for you, a modern lace-up style is still a great way to tap into the trend. Viva Bride’s Daniela combines a stunning lace-up back with chic modern florals and a showstopping mermaid silhouette, while Amika's contemporary straight neckline is the perfect contrast to the rich satin lacing. Alternatively, this Anna Sorrano tea-length mixes a figure-hugging bodice (thanks to chic lacing) with a swishy short skirt, for a look that’s full of fun, movement and energy.

5. Changeable elements

Second dresses are super popular, but not everyone is ready to change out of their wedding dress the moment the vows are done. Enter adaptable elements instead! Think lace toppers, detachable sleeves, big bows and so much more.

A lace jacket or lace sleeves are a classic way to get the look, however the same look in ruched tulle adds an unexpected modern twist. For an even more dramatic mid-wedding change, consider an oversized bow or a luxe Mikado overskirt. However, our favourite, is this stunning Aaliyah Quinn dress that does it all, with three gorgeous looks in one.

6. Beautiful bubbles

Forget classic and traditional, this season’s designers were also in the mood to have a little fun, with bubble hems galore gracing the catwalks. There were big voluminous full skirts and fitted mermaid styles that ‘bubbled’ out below the thigh to make a real statement.

For a take on the look that still feels timeless, consider adding these stunning puff sleeves to your outfit. They look amazing with anything in sleek Mikado and will add a guaranteed catwalk feel to your outfit.

7. Sculptural silhouettes

Lastly, striking sculptural elements that were almost works of art were showcased by some of the more avant-garde bridal designers, such as giant 3D rosettes, sculpted ruffles and architectural necklines.

However, a look that’s jaw-dropping on the catwalk isn’t quite so easy to wear while mingling with your mother-in-law, so look for subtler take on the trend. Ferentino is the perfect compromise, with its dramatic couture-inspired bodice that makes a real statement while still being easy to wear. Alternatively, for bold sculptural ruffles, try this magnificent waterfall skirt to ensure all eyes are on you.
