Adele and David’s chic black wedding colour scheme
A beautiful winter wedding near Glasgow
This happy couple combined a beautiful black wedding colour scheme with delicate touches of lilac for their lovely November wedding...
Adele and David first met online on a site called Badoo. “Our first date was on Valentine's Day 2016,” says Adele. “We’ve been together ever since!”
David proposed on Christmas Day 2020, while the couple were at his dad’s house. “We had just lost our daughter the month before and he said he knew from that moment he wanted to marry me,” says Adele. “He told his sister in the kitchen he was going to propose. Then he walked into the living room, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. David’s sister captured it all on video.”
Shopping for the dress
Adele found her dream dress at wed2b Glasgow. “I had been driving by the store for years saying, ‘When we get married I’m buying my dress from there’. And I did! It was an amazing experience. I went with just my maid of honour and the girl who helped me was such an angel.”
Adele chose a stunning corded lace A-line with elegant sleeves by Anna Sorrano. “I knew I wanted A-line and had a feeling I wanted sleeves,” she says. “This was the dress the girl instore picked out and it stole my heart from the get go! I felt like a princess and didn’t want to take it off.”
A hotel wedding venue
The couple married at The Busby Hotel, a beautiful venue on the south side of Glasgow, on the 9th November. “It’s a stunning venue,” says Adele. “We had a look at a few online and ordered brochures during Covid. Then, once the rules started to settle, the Busby emailed asking if we wanted a viewing. The minute we walked into the building we knew it was for us, and we booked it that day."
The big day
Adele got ready on the wedding morning with her maid of honour, bridesmaids and flower girls. “We got ready at the venue and had Lyndsey from Don’t Stress The Dress on hand to help us,” says Adele. “It turned out to be a beautiful dry day. My dad walked me down the aisle to ‘I Get to Love You' by Ruelle.”
Let’s party!
After the ceremony there were drinks and canapés while the newlyweds had some photos taken.
“For dinner we had lentil soup, then steak pie with roast potatoes and honey roasted veg and sticky toffee pudding for dessert,” says Adele. “Our first dance was to 'I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You’ by Haley Reinheart,” says Adele. “It’s always been our song and if the version by Twenty One Pilots was longer we would have had that instead.”
A stylish black wedding colour scheme
“We had a sophisticated black wedding colour scheme with touches of lilac,” says Adele. “The lilac was for our daughter, so there was a touch of her at the wedding and black because it looked amazing."

"We also had a sweetheart flower arch and blossom trees. I made our welcome sign and table plan myself and just printed them out. The wedding cake was a three-tier cake with toffee fudge at the bottom and vanilla and raspberry in the top two layers. In evening we had a DJ and he was outstanding.”
The best bits
“One of the most memorable moments of the whole day was our 'Tying the Knot’ ceremony, which included our kids,” says Adele. “Also our first dance. My husband hates to dance and doesn’t like attention, so I’ll cherish that moment my whole life.”
My top tips…
“Take it all in and take 10 mins for just you and your husband, because it goes by so fast,” says Adele. “Enjoy yourself, no matter what happens. You’re marrying your best friend that day.”
