This Lake Como wedding venue felt like something out of a movie for these lucky newlyweds…

Brodie and Jack first met in a pub in 2017. “We went for food and drinks in the town centre for our first date,” says Brodie. “We dated for a while but then things died down. However, fast forward to late 2019 and we bumped into each other on a night out. We then started exchanging texts and have been inseparable ever since. It was all about the timing and always meant to be.”

Jack proposed in Barcelona in October 2021. “We were taking a walk around the fountains while they were lighting up and changing colour to the music,” says Brodie. “Then he got on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course I said, ‘Yes’!”

Shopping for the dress

Brodie discovered wed2b on Facebook. “I knew I wanted a more affordable wedding dress,” she says. “Then, when I went into the Rotherham store, I felt like a princess. The choice of dresses was amazing and I tried on loads!”

She chose Baxter, a beautiful stretch lace sheath with soft eyelash edging. "This was the sixth dress I tried on and it fitted like a glove,” says Brodie. “It didn’t need any alterations at all. I knew it was perfect and it was also lightweight, which I needed for my destination wedding.”

A Lake Como wedding

“Our wedding venue was like something out of a movie,” says Brodie. “It was a beautiful hotel right on the banks of Lake Como in Italy. The whole venue was outside with incredible views of the lake. Jack and I took a boat ride out after the ceremony to take some pictures and it was so beautiful.”

The big day

The couple married on 8th February. "I got ready with my bridesmaids in my hotel room,” says Brodie. “Then my dad walked me down the aisle to the song ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perri.”

“Afterwards, we had drinks and canapés overlooking the lake, with bottomless champagne and beers for all of our guests,” says Brodie. “That’s also when we took our private boat ride, to soak up the views and take some breathtaking pictures.”

The softest blues

The colour scheme was baby blue with hints of gold. “I wanted baby blue to have a piece of my late grandad with me,” says Brodie. “His favourite colour was blue and he was a massive Sheffield Wednesday fan. Blue also tied in beautifully with the lake and the venue.”

“The wedding cake was a gorgeous traditional Italian cake, with three tiers in white and baby blue with hints of gold. All my flower arrangements were on gold stands and the table was also dressed with ivory and gold.”

The best bits…

“My most memorable moment was the first dance,” says Brodie. “I remember saying to my new husband that I want to take this moment in. Half way through the song we also invited our guests to join us and it was the most lovely few minutes.”

My top tips…

“Don’t stress, everything will fall into place,” says Brodie. “Plus, it's all worth it in the end.”
