Danielle and Damy met through work. “Our first date was three years after we first met,” says Danielle. “We have known each other for 13 years now.”
Damy proposed on 13 March 2022. “He got down on one knee after being away for two weeks, on a working holiday, without his family,” says Danielle. “It was in my mother's backyard, with her and our daughters there, and it was lovely.”
Shopping for the dress
Danielle visited WED2B’s Arnhem store.
“It had a very relaxed atmosphere and Hilde in the store was also incredibly helpful with everything and gave her honest opinion,” she says.
“I really wanted a straight/sheath dress, only they didn't have the one I liked in my size. So I tried on several and fit and flare styles instead.”
“I immediately loved Annika. It just fitted me perfectly, had a beautiful train, sweetheart neckline and not too much fuss. I also added a Wunderskirt, a Sapphire belt and a Willa veil to complete the look. Plus, I bought adorable Perrie dresses for our two flower girls and a ‘Bride’ kimono for me!”
An orangery wedding venue
The couple chose a picturesque orangery wedding venue for their big day on 19th May 2023. “Fletcher Hotel De Buunderkamp is a beautiful hotel in the middle of the forest,” says Danielle. “It had a lovely modern glass greenhouse and a stretch tent for our BBQ. Then our evening party was in its elegant orangery hall.”
The big day
“I slept with my daughters and mum at the hotel,” says Danielle. “We had a delicious breakfast and then got ready. A friend did my hair and my mum helped the girls get ready.”
“Later we had our first look and photos with family,” says Danielle. “Then the ceremony started and my mum walked me down the aisle. Our eldest daughter arrived with Damy in the wedding car and our other daughter walked in front of me into the ceremony.”
Party time!
Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed delicious cake and drinks. “After this we had a rest for an hour and then our excellent BBQ started,” says Danielle.
“In the evening, we also had a DJ who began his set with a fantastic water drum act.”
A 1920s’ vintage style
“We had red, gold and black as our colours and a kind of vintage 1920s’ mafia theme,” says Danielle. “My friends wanted something different for once. This was reflected in our cake too."
The best bits…
“The most memorable moments of the whole day were really the ceremony and the party,” says Danielle.
My top tips…
“Enjoy it, because it will be over in no time,” says Danielle. “Also, have a great party and pay no attention to the photographer! That’s how you get the most fun photos.”
