This happy couple chose a lovely sunny day in May for their Clevedon Hall wedding in picturesque Somerset…

Ellie and Joey first met in Bristol in 2023, when they were both walking their dogs. “For our first date, we went out for a meal and then for cocktails,” says Ellie. 

“Joey proposed on 13th July 2024, when I was seven-months’ pregnant with our son,” says Ellie. “He took me to the park where we first met with the dogs and he asked a random stranger to take a picture of us. Then he got down on one knee and popped the question.”

Shopping for the dress

Ellie found her perfect dress at wed2b’s Bristol store. “It was great,” she says. “There was a massive collection of dresses and the lady who helped me was amazing. She listened to exactly what I asked for and I ended up buying the first dress I tried on!”

The dress she chose was Aimee, a luxurious A-line with beautiful floral lace and a wow-factor train, by Aaliyah Quinn. “I loved the sparkle and the long train,” she says. “I also bought a cathedral-length veil and a ballgown underskirt to complete the look.”

A Clevedon Hall wedding

The couple married at Clevedon Hall, an elegant manor house near Bristol. “We live right by it and I’ve always thought how beautiful the building was,” says Ellie. “We booked it for the 17th May.”

The big day

“On the day, I got ready with my three bridesmaids, my eight-month-old son and my mum,” says Ellie. “Luckily, it was a lovely warm summer’s day.”

“It was an evening ceremony and my dad walked me down the aisle,” says Ellie. “During the service we had some songs from Bridgerton and also ‘Stargazing’ by Myles Smith."

“Afterwards, there were drinks and a DJ,” says Ellie. “As it was a late ceremony, the food was an evening buffet.”

Pale pinks, greens and golds

The wedding colours were stylish pale pink, gold and sage green. “And the mood was Ibiza party vibes,” says Ellie. “We also had a saxophone player, which everyone loved.”

The best bits…

“The whole day was just magical,” says Ellie. “But a standout moment was seeing my husband burst into tears when I walked down the aisle.”

My top tips…

“Spend as much time together on the day as you can, and savour every moment,” says Ellie.
