Find the perfect fit with a button back wedding dress
A button back wedding dress is the ideal mix of elegant sophistication and practical styling. A chic row of covered buttons looks stunning and helps to draw the eye down to your waistline and beautiful skirt.
It’s also a stylish way to secure the back of your dress and it creates a pretty focal point as you walk down that aisle.
Below, our Bridal Experts have picked four of their favourite designs and each button back wedding dress has something different to offer. There’s soft prettiness, figure-hugging and fabulous, mermaid-style glamour and classic elegance. Read on to discover which one you are…
Softly does it
Marianne, one of our Platinum Edition designs, really stands out from the crowd when it comes to exquisite detailing. It has the most beautiful floral lace, which covers the bodice and the three-quarter-length sleeves. There’s also a striking plunging neckline, edged with delicate eyelash lace, to soften the look, alongside discreet illusion panels for plenty of coverage.
At the back, there’s even more intricate illusion lace and the all-important row of covered buttons. These lead the eye down to the full A-line skirt, made from super soft tulle. Princess brides should wear this with our stunning Monae veil, edged in the prettiest embroidered lace.
All buttoned up
Fashion-forward brides might prefer beautiful Theoni, which pairs simple, flattering crepe with intricate Chantilly and embroidered lace. The on-trend bodice features sophisticated semi-sheer lace and a delicate scalloped neckline, as well as perfectly placed on-the-shoulder straps.
The chic covered buttons are the perfect complement here, linking the simple crepe to the more detailed bodice. They also lead down the skirt to the striking cut-out lace hem, edged in soft eyelash lace. We love this dress styled with a pretty Alpha hair comb and a sparkling Leonie belt to highlight your waistline.
Real wow factor
We’d forgive you for not noticing Kelsey’s neat button back, as there’s so much other stunning detailing going on! This dazzling mermaid style features a breathtaking illusion back with pretty appliqués running down the centre in ornate swirls and leaves. Subtle sequins also mean Kelsey has just a touch of sparkle under natural light.
At the front, there’s a classic V-neckline and more corded lace appliqués across the bodice. The skirt then skims the hips beautifully before flaring out into a decadent froth of delightful, rippling tulle. A dress like this can handle a little more detail, so try it with our glittering Sapphire belt and gorgeous Odetta hair comb, too.
Contemporary chic
Liesl is the epitome of modern elegance and the neat button back enhances this feel. The bodice has a stylish halter neckline made from beautiful embroidered illusion lace. There are also just a few subtle, light-catching sequins glistening here and there.
The timeless A-line skirt also features more lace applies, that tumble prettily over the waistline, before giving way to tasteful plain tulle. This design benefits from a little extra sparkle at the waistline and a well-chosen hair accessory, like our pretty Alpha hair comb.
Make a real statement
Finally, we have Kayden, a wow-factor sheath that shows how a button back wedding dress can be both classically elegant or modern and dramatic. This striking sheath features a beautiful Chantilly lace layer topped with embroidered lace appliqués. These decorate the bodice, waistline and surround the hem of the breathtaking train.
Follow the embellished slim straps round to the back and you’ll discover the attractively low illusion back, which makes a real statement. Then the stylish buttons, along with more detailed lace appliqués, lead the eye down the sexy, figure-hugging skirt. This is a dress that’s designed to make an impact, so you can go to town with your accessories. We love it with some contemporary sparkle at the waistline and, for the final touch of wow factor, a super glamorous faux fur bolero.
