Wedding dress worries

“I thought I knew exactly what I wanted”

Like many brides, Helene arrived with a clear idea in mind. “I was dreaming of a mermaid-style dress,” she says. “I thought I knew exactly what I wanted before even trying anything on.”

But, as soon as she stepped into the changing room, things began to shift. “When I put on Lois, a crepe sheath with a stunning statement train, everything changed,” she says. “It just felt right.”

“Not everyone was sure at first”

Although Helene loved her dress instantly, not everyone saw it the same way. “I briefly came back to exchange it, as my family had some concerns,” she says. “That made me question myself for a moment.”

It’s something many brides experience, balancing their own feelings with the opinions of those around them. “It wasn’t easy hearing doubts when I already felt so strongly about it,” she says. “But deep down, I knew how much I loved it.”

Shopping for the dress

“I felt supported the whole way through”

Helene visited the London City store, where her experience made all the difference. “Yasmin was incredibly kind, patient and supportive,” she says. “She really helped me find something I felt comfortable in and made me feel so sure of my choice.”

Even when doubts crept in, that support remained. “When I went back, she was so understanding and helped reassure both me and my family,” says Helene. “That gave me the boost I needed to stick with what I truly wanted.”

“It didn’t feel pressured at all,” she adds. “It felt like she genuinely wanted me to feel happy and self-assured in whatever I chose.”

“That’s when I trusted myself”

The turning point wasn’t just finding the dress, it was choosing it. “When I put Lois on, I felt confident, elegant and completely myself,” she says. “That feeling never changed, even when I started to question it.”

Going back to it felt natural. “The second I put it on again, I knew,” she says. “It wasn’t just a dress, it was my dress.”

That moment gave her clarity. “It gave me the certainty to choose what I truly wanted, regardless of what anyone else thought.”

The wedding day

“I felt proud of my choice”

On her wedding day, that decision meant everything. “Walking down the aisle in that dress made me feel proud of choosing what my heart loved,” she says.

More than anything, it allowed her to be present. “I wasn’t worrying about how I looked,” she says. “I was just enjoying the moment.”

“It changed how I trust myself”

Choosing her dress also became something bigger than just one decision. “It made me realise how important it is to trust your own instincts,” she says.

That confidence carried through. “It made me stand taller, smile brighter and feel completely comfortable in my own body,” she says.

Her advice for brides feeling torn between their own taste and others’ opinions is simple. “Listen to yourself,” she says. “You’re the one wearing the dress and you deserve to feel amazing in it.”
