City halls are stylish and intimate venues, often with plenty of character or historic architecture. They’re ideal for micro weddings or elopements, with just you and a couple of witnesses, but they’re also just as great for a modern do with plenty of friends and family. What’s more, once the ceremony is done, you’ll be perfectly placed for any number of cool city venues. You'll have everything from restaurants and clubs to art galleries and museums right on your doorstep.

Dress to impress

So, when it comes to your outfit, absolutely anything goes. A chic city hall wedding is ideal for a contemporary design but will also look magical with something classic or floaty and bohemian. The choice is yours. To inspire you we’ve picked some of our favourite new designs that will look fabulous when you hit the town…

City slickers

Drew has the perfect city vibe and will look amazing with an equally contemporary groom's outfit. The sleek silhouette is decorated with an ivory crepe that is ruched across the bodice, framing the bust and flattering the figure. The off-the-shoulder straps are in matching crepe and there’s also embroidered ivory lace, which wraps around the bodice and surrounds the stunning puddle train.

It’s understated elegance at its very best, and you can keep it simple or add one or two well-chosen accessories, like our contemporary Estella belt and a pretty Odetta hair comb. Then you’re ready to hit the streets with your new husband for some stunning photographs with the city as a backdrop!

A modern classic

Thought a ballgown automatically meant tradition and frills? Think again. Elena is as modern as they come. This striking design is made from breathtaking Mikado fabric, which gleams under the light and gives the dress a beautiful structure and volume.

The crisp V-neckline has a soft plunge and leads to a neat waistband, that wraps around and creates a beautiful focal point. At the back, the chic square neckline and stylish bow are pure Old Hollywood glamour. Wear it with an elegant updo and statement chandelier earrings for the full Grace Kelly effect.

The softest lace

However, lace lovers might prefer Harriet, a flattering A-line with classic embroidered lace and a soft eyelash-lace trim. The skirt is made from the lightest tulle but keeps its structure and volume thanks to a bright ivory lining and luxurious petticoats.

A city hall wedding works just as well with a more traditional dress like Harriet. We think this design is gorgeous when styled with our classic Autumn hairband and our understated plain tulle veil. Alternatively, if you love this look but would prefer sleeves, then take a look at Laurenza instead.

The blushing bride

Strapless Nancy is one of our favourite new designs. Its luscious blush lining, under a layer of soft tulle, is oh-so-pretty and makes the enchanting ivory corded lace flowers appear to pop out from the dress.

This design will look amazing at an alfresco reception with photos against the backdrop of a modern city garden. The blush tone is also the perfect pairing for lots of our Amixi collection accessories. So, feel free to go wild with the sparkle!

Make a fashion statement

Our Signature Collection is the one for fashion-focused brides and Roscoe has it all when it comes to contemporary cool. This figure-hugging sheath showcases an on-trend illusion bodice and a plunging back. Ornate embroidered and Chantilly lace appliqués cover the bodice and the three-quarter-length sleeves, while the sumptuous stretch crepe gives this design a really luxurious feel. Finally, there’s the wow factor train, made with beautifully intricate lace, that will flow magnificently behind you.

Paint the town red

Lastly, what could be more perfect for a city hall wedding than a fun and flirty tea-length dress like Niamh? Ideal for running around city streets then twirling on the dance floor of a cool venue, Niamh has a pleated tulle bodice and straps with trendy exposed boning. This is layered underneath symmetrical floral appliqués for a semi-sheer look. The sweetheart neckline and dipped back are also super cute and balance out the tulle skirt perfectly.
