These newlyweds chose a stylish red theme for their winter wedding at a rustic barn wedding venue…

Jenna and Shaun met during the summer of 2019 in JD Wetherspoons. “We then had our first date in May 2020, which was a socially distanced walk,” says Jenna. “Shaun later proposed during a trip to Rome. It was in front of the Trevi Fountain at night, and it was magical.”

Shopping for the dress

Jenna found her dream dress at wed2b’s Hinckley store. “I discovered wed2b through my cousin, Ruth, who also bought her wedding dress there,” she says. “The store experience was amazing. I'd previously tried on around 20 dresses in boutiques and just couldn't find ‘The One’. The wed2b store assistant picked something out for me. It was a style I'd never tried before and I fell in love with it. The staff were so helpful and we came back for the bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen ties and pocket squares too!”

Jenna chose Palermo, an elegant, off-the-shoulder Mikado A-line by Anna Sorrano. “I absolutely fell in love with the train and buttoned back. It also made me feel amazing on the wedding day. It was so different to any other dress I'd tried on before.”

Rustic barn wedding venue

The couple married at Cider Mill Barns, near Stratford-Upon-Avon, on the 8th March. “We found our rustic barn wedding venue online and fell in love with it on the first visit,” says Jenna. “It's a newly-built barn with an on-site bridal suite and accommodation.”

The big day

“I got ready in the bridal suite,” says Jenna. “We had breakfast platters and Prosecco and it was a lovely relaxed morning. We listened to a bridal party playlist from Spotify and lots of ABBA!”

“My dad walked me down the aisle to a violinist playing Elvis’s ‘Can't Help Falling in Love’ and it was a lovely dry day with spots of sun,” says Jenna. “I couldn’t have asked for better in March.”

Let’s celebrate!

After the ceremony there were drinks and canapés before the newlyweds headed off for photos. “This was a lovely chance to mingle with all our guests and take in the fact we were now a married couple,” says Jenna. “For our wedding breakfast we had a three-course meal, including tomato soup, beef for the main course and sticky toffee pudding. All our faves! Our first dance song was ‘Love at First Sight’ by Blame Jones, as the lyrics remind us of how we first met.”

Bold reds and elegant whites

“The colour scheme was rich reds and elegant whites with touches of soft pink in the centrepieces,” says Jenna. “We had a memorial wall to help remember loved ones who were no longer with us and also produced some wedding newspapers, which we put on the ceremony chairs."

The best bits…

“The most memorable moment of the whole day was waiting behind the door with my dad and bridesmaids before the ceremony,” says Jenna. “It was great having a second to take in the fact I was about to walk down the aisle to marry Shaun. I remember feeling so excited and nervous!”

My top tips…

“Start planning and dress shopping early,” says Jenna. “And don't take too many people to your dress appointment, so you get a dress YOU love and feel great in.”
