Great cake, a pink wedding colour and plenty of love were all this happy couple needed for a day to remember…

Real bride Kim found her dream dress at wed2b Southampton. “Visiting wed2b was a fabulous experience,” she says. “I went to my local wed2b store in Hinckley several times. However, I couldn't get the dress I wanted, so a friend bought it for me in Southampton instead!”

Kim chose Tate, a strapless mermaid design in shimmering Mikado by Anna Sorrano. “It was classically timeless and very simple,” she says. “It also had amazing buttons down the back all the way to the hem. I wore it with a sparkling belt, veil, a Kensington lace jacket and a hair comb, too.”

A perfectly pink wedding colour

“Also, wed2b’s bridesmaids' dresses in blush pink were perfect for my pink wedding colour scheme,” says Kim. “While the cute flower girl dresses in matching Mikado fabric were the ideal finishing touch.”

A last minute venue change

“We originally had a hotel booked for our March wedding,” says Kim. “Then, four and a half weeks before the big day, it was cancelled. We had just four days to find a new venue and give notice again. It was so stressful but luckily we found an amazing venue just in time. We ended up marrying at Brooksby Hall, a picturesque 16th century manor house set in beautiful Leicestershire countryside.”

The big day

“I got ready with my bridesmaids and my mum,” says Kim. “It was pouring with rain but the blue sky came out just in time. My dad walked me down the aisle to an instrumental version of ‘Never Enough’ from the film The Greatest Showman. It was perfect.”

Drinks, dancing and sparklers

After the ceremony there were canapés and drinks followed by photos and speeches. Later there was a disco and the night ended with a sparkler send off. “Our first dance was to ‘Love Goes Down’ by Plan B. Not long after we met we went to a festival and my husband sang it to me while Plan B was on. So, it’s a special song to us.”

All you need is love (and cake!)

“The cake was stunning,” says Kim. “It had three tiers with the most delicious flavours. Our wedding was quite budget friendly and the theme for the day was ‘love’. We didn't need anything except those we loved around us.”

The best bits…

“The most memorable moment of the whole day was looking round at night, at all our family and friends dancing, and knowing after 12 years we had finally done it.”

My top tips...

“Just enjoy it,” says Kim. “Things will go wrong but no one will notice.”
