How Morgan and Connor’s real bride wedding story began

Morgan and Connor’s real bride wedding story began when they were just 16 years old. The pair first met at a mutual friend’s birthday party, where Morgan’s sister decided to step in and help things along. “She could tell I liked Connor, so she basically shoved us together to talk,” Morgan laughs.

However, what would become their childhood sweetheart wedding story really started when they crossed paths again not long after. They were both helping friends on a night out, Connor as the wingman and Morgan as the wing-woman. “However, Connor and I had more fun,” says Morgan. “We chatted the night away, while our friends sat in awkward silence!”

A romantic beach proposal at Formby

Connor proposed in November 2022 during a walk on Formby Beach near Liverpool. The couple wrapped up in coats and brought along a flask of hot chocolate for a quiet walk along the beach, something they often did together.

They were alone on the beach when Connor suddenly dropped to one knee, making the moment feel even more intimate and personal. “We were the only people around,” says Morgan. “My favourite moment was after Connor proposed. We hid in the sand dunes chatting and soaking in the short time when only the two of us knew we were engaged.”

Finding the dress at the Wrexham wed2b store

Morgan’s journey to finding her wedding dress wasn’t without nerves. After having a negative experience at another bridal store, she was worried about trying again. But everything changed when she visited wed2b’s Wrexham store.

The team immediately made her feel at home. “All of the staff were incredible,” she says. “They were so welcoming, reassuring and knowledgeable. After my previous experience I was a bit nervous, but they made it such a magical experience.”

During the appointment, one of the bridal stylists listened carefully to Morgan’s ideas and suggested a dress she thought she would like. “The lady looking after me said she had the perfect dress for me and the rest was history,” she says. “Even after trying a few more dresses to be sure, I knew I’d already found 'The One’.”

The Sidney wedding dress

Morgan chose the Sidney gown, a contemporary crepe sheath with beautifully scooped cowl back that perfectly matched her style. She instantly fell in love with its simple elegance, timeless feel and the inner confidence it gave her. The moment she stepped into the dress, she knew it was something special. “My face just lit up when I put it on,” she says. “I felt like a queen.”

A spring barn wedding at Soughton Hall

Morgan and Connor celebrated their spring barn wedding on 23rd May at The Coach House at Soughton Hall in Flintshire, Wales. Their venue was a beautifully converted stable and barn set within the grounds of a stately home, surrounded by countryside.

After looking at lots of venues online, the couple fell for The Coach House when they visited in person. “The atmosphere was incredible,” says Morgan. "It felt laid-back but still elegant, which suited us and our spring wedding inspiration theme perfectly. The staff were so welcoming and made us feel at home straight away.”

The wedding morning

On the big day, Morgan spent a relaxed morning getting ready at her mum and step-dad’s house, surrounded by close family, her maid of honour and her three bridesmaids.

Despite rain being forecast all week, the weather turned out to be perfect. “Luckily we had beautiful sunshine, which made everything feel even more special,” she says.

A meaningful ceremony

Morgan walked down the aisle with her mum during their relaxed civil ceremony wedding. They were accompanied by live music, performed by one of Morgan’s closest friends, Elin, who she’s known for 12 years. Elin sang and played the piano, combining Coldplay’s ‘All My Love’ with 'Until I Found You’ by Stephen Sanchez.

The ceremony also included a reading from the couple’s two nieces, who shared the poem He Never Leaves the Seat Up. During the signing of the register, the couple played the song ‘Married Life’ from the film Up, adding another sentimental moment to the ceremony.

Wedding reception and celebrations

After the ceremony, guests celebrated with a glass of Prosecco and homemade fudge made by Morgan’s brother-in-law, Gabriel. Everyone then gathered outside for the confetti moment before enjoying the venue’s gardens. There were outdoor games for the children to play and also an artist who sketched pictures of guests throughout the afternoon.

Personal wedding details and DIY touches

Morgan and Connor filled their wedding with thoughtful details that reflected their personalities and family connections. One of the most meaningful elements was the confetti. “I hand dried all of my confetti from important moments, such as funeral flowers of close family members, birthdays, just-because flowers and celebrations,” says Morgan.

Her veil also carried a beautiful story. Morgan’s sister hand-embroidered it with flowers chosen by every female member of her immediate family. Alongside this, the couple created handwritten letters for every guest, which doubled as their place cards at the reception.

DIY wedding table plan with floral design

Morgan designed several DIY elements herself too. “I bought a floral painting on a canvas and then hand wrote the table plan out on floral paper,” she says. "So many people complimented us on this.” There were also custom wedding newspapers for guests and a memory ladder displaying photos of loved ones who were no longer with them, alongside dried flowers as a tribute.

The couple’s favourite moment

While the entire day was unforgettable, Morgan and Connor’s favourite moment was actually a quiet one. Just before heading into the wedding breakfast, the venue encouraged them to take a short break together. “It was just the two of us outside chatting and reflecting on the day so far,” says Morgan. “It was really special.”

Advice for future brides

Morgan has simple advice for other brides planning their wedding. “The day honestly goes by so fast. Don’t get caught up in the little things. You’re the guests of honour, not the hosts. Just enjoy every moment.”
