This couple headed back home for their stylish rustic wedding. Our WED2B Real Weddings feature reveals more:
Martin and Charlotte first met when they were both at university in Cardiff in 2011. “Our first date was at a pub back in our hometown of Hereford,” says Charlotte. “Martin proposed on my birthday. We were on holiday in Rome and he asked while we were enjoying a candlelit dinner. It was very romantic."
Falling in love all over again...
Charlotte visited WED2B’s Bristol store and discovered our Hemsworth dress. “I absolutely fell in love with it,” she says. “I had been looking for months before and nothing had really caught my eye. Hemsworth was a new design and I had to try it on as soon as I saw it advertised! I absolutely loved the lace detail, the train and also the figure-hugging style. I just felt perfect in it."
A rustic wedding venue
The couple chose Lyde Court in Hereford for their big day. “As soon as we had our first viewing there we knew straight away it was the one,” says Charlotte. “It was a barn venue in Herefordshire and we wanted to go back home to our roots to get married. As soon as we saw it we were blown away by how pretty it was and the rustic wedding look was also gorgeous.”
The big day
The wedding was held on 15th June 2019. “My Dad walked me down the aisle,” says Charlotte. “For us, the most amazing memorable moments were the ceremony and having our friends and family there with us, which was wonderful.”
Rustic wedding decor
“Our theme was rustic with touches of rose gold,” says Charlotte. “We felt the venue didn’t need too much decor, as it was amazing just as it was. The metallic rose gold details just provided a little extra detail, along with the chair covers and lots of gypsophila and flowers. Our cake was a three-tier vanilla chocolate and lemon sponge with rose gold details.”
Party time!
“The ceremony was followed by drinks outside in the sunshine and we also had an acoustic singer playing, to provide some chilled out summer vibes,” says Charlotte. “Later we had our wedding breakfast followed by the speeches. And then, before we knew it, the evening guests were arriving and it was party time!"
My top tips…
“Just enjoy every moment of the day,” says Charlotte. “It really does fly by, so make the most of it. Also, don’t worry about the little things!”
