Real Weddings Bristol: Roxanne and Joshua’s boho safari wedding
These childhood sweethearts headed home to Zimbabwe for their dream safari wedding. Our WED2B Real Weddings feature reveals more…
Roxanne and Joshua have known each other since they were childhood sweethearts growing up in Zimbabwe. “He proposed during a picnic in a lavender field with my family,” says Roxanne.
Dream dress shopping
Roxanne discovered her perfect dress, a soft lace sheath design, in WED2B’s Bristol store. “I chose Heidi Hudson’s Summer dress,” she says. "I loved the classic look. It was also elegant yet simple.”
A safari wedding
The couple married in Chirundu on the banks of the Zambezi River in Zimbabwe. “I loved the venue and the elephants that came with it!” says Roxanne.
The big day
"My dad walked me down the aisle to the most incredible instrumental version of Sam Smith’s ‘Stay With Me’, played by Kevin Olusola on the cello,” says Roxanne. “My mum also did a beautiful reading. It was the most incredible day!”
Boho and beautiful
“We had a really bohemian safari wedding,” says Roxanne. “My bridesmaids all wore different dresses, made from five materials I had chosen. We also used the Zambezi River as a backdrop for our photographs."
"There was even a cheeky elephant who stole flowers before our ceremony!”
My top tips…
“Enjoy the day, it goes by so fast!”
