Real Weddings Fleetwood: Abigail and Luke’s beautiful blue wedding
A chance meeting on a train led to this delightful blue wedding day. Our WED2B Real Weddings feature reveals more…
Abigail and Luke met in 2019. "We used to catch the same train home every day,” says Abigail. “There was a lot of eye contact across the station waiting room!” Luke later proposed to Abigail by a lake on her 30th birthday. “It was in the same spot where we had our first kiss almost a year earlier,” she says.
Wedding dresses Fleetwood
Abigail found her dream dress among WED2B’s wedding dresses Fleetwood. “I was totally surprised because not only did I ended up coming away with a dress on the first visit, but it was exactly the opposite of what I thought I would choose!” she laughs. “Also, I’m not very body confident yet we all agreed the right dress was the one that accentuated my shape the most. Roscoe was perfect for me.” (For similar styles try Elysia, Henri and James)
A manor house venue
The couple married on 15th January 2022 at Briars Hall in Ormskirk. “It’s an 18th century manor house and it was our favourite venue. We felt so comfortable and special there,” says Abigail. “I also didn't feel out of place or that it was too much. It was exactly right for the size of wedding we wanted and everything was just perfect.”
The big day
"I walked down the aisle to a string version of ‘Can't Help Falling In Love’,” says Abigail. “I also had a photograph charm, showing my late nana on her wedding day, tied on my bouquet, which was so special to me."
"The weather was perfect in the end. It was very cold, as it was only three weeks after Christmas, but it was such a lovely sunny day. It meant we were able to have photographs in the hotel grounds.”
“After the ceremony we had a beautiful reception with all our friends and family,” says Abigail. “This was followed by puzzles and games at the tables and then everyone just enjoyed dancing and catching up.”
Beautiful blues, tea lights and flowers
"The main colour theme was blue.,” says Abigail. “The tables were decorated with birdcage centrepieces with tea lights and lots of beautiful flowers."
"Our favours were a selection of chocolate truffles in a box in the shape of a birdcage, to match our centrepieces. We also had a Macmillan Cancer Support pin badge which, in a lovely coincidence, matched our theme!”
My top tips…
“Be open minded, but also trust your instincts,” says Abigail. “Finally, make the most of planning it and try to remember and enjoy every second of the day, it really will fly by!”
