Real Weddings Southampton: Hannah and Sam’s stylish wedding in Dorset
A picturesque wedding in Dorset was just perfect for this happy couple. Our WED2B Real Weddings feature reveals more:
Hannah and Sam met through a friend in a local bar. “We didn’t get to go on our first date for about three months though, because Sam was away with work,” says Hannah. “Sam proposed in May 2017, when we were in Santorini. It was during a seven-course private dining experience and it was incredible!”
Shopping for the dress
Hannah visited WED2B’s Southampton store to look for her dress. “I went on a weekday and we had the store to ourselves,” she says. “The girls were lovely and so helpful and I was able to try on multiple dresses. I ended up choosing WED2B’s Summer dress. I loved the fit and shape on my figure. It gave me curves in all the right places and made me feel amazing. I bought it three weeks before our wedding, which was in August 2018. I also bought a Bellatrix veil, because it complemented the dress perfectly.”
A wedding in Dorset
The couple married at Parley Manor, Bournemouth. “We chose this venue for our wedding in Dorset because of the beautiful grounds, relaxed atmosphere and the amazing food the caterers had to offer,” says Hannah. “I walked down the aisle with my Dad to ‘Make You Feel My Love’ by Adele. Ruby, the friend who introduced us, gave a reading along with Sam’s sister Megan. One of my favourite parts of the day was walking down the aisle. I absolutely loved it! I decided to put all nerves to one side and just enjoy it.”
Music and drinks on the lawn
After the ceremony there was an acoustic set by the couple’s band, The Generations, while everyone enjoyed welcome drinks on the lawn and the photographer took photos.
The wedding breakfast
“We didn’t have a theme,” says Hannah. “The tables were named after places we’d visited together and amazing memories we’ve created. The venue was also decorated with flowers by our wonderful florist, Simply Flower. For the wedding breakfast we served a three-course meal of Greek meze followed by lamb shank and then lemon tart with raspberry sorbet."
"Our cake was made by my Mum's friend, Karen, and had tiers of white chocolate and raspberry, lemon and salted caramel. The speeches were a real highlight for me. I always love wedding speeches but when they're so personal to you, there's nothing more amazing.”
“Afterwards the evening guests arrived, then there was a hog roast and the band played three sets into the night,” says Hannah. “It was perfect! My favourite moment was when Sam and I went off to have our photos taken. It was so lovely to have some time to ourselves and to just enjoy each other for half an hour. The only thing I would change about the whole day was to have got married earlier. The day just goes so quickly!”
