Robinn and Dylan met on Instagram through a mutual friend. “I saw Dylan in a photo and sent a message,” says Robinn. “We talked but, unfortunately, sparks didn’t fly and we then didn’t speak to each other for a year. Later, I contacted him again to ask if he wanted to meet up with me. We went to the movies together and the sparks immediately flew!”

A dramatic proposal

Dylan proposed after the couple had been together for three years. “We went on holiday to Austria for our anniversary,” says Robinn. “On our actual anniversary Dylan had a surprise for me. We took the lift to the top of a nearby mountain and jumped off with a parachute! Once we were down, Dylan was on one knee with a ring in his hand. And, of course, I immediately said, Yes!”

Shopping for the dress

After the proposal, Robinn immediately went to WED2B with her mother.

“The WED2B store in Geleen, in the Netherlands, had just opened that week,” she says. “I tried on a few dresses, not knowing that I would instantly fall in love with one of them. However, I didn't want to make the decision without the rest of my family. So, I went back a week later to try more, but I ended up choosing the dress I had fallen in love with all over again!”

Robinn’s dress was Hemsworth from the Signature Collection. “It was my dream dress,” she says. “The flattering neckline, the openwork lace and the beautiful bling. But especially the fit and the open back. It felt like the dress was made for my body. Even after we decided to postpone our wedding for a year, because of Covid, the dress was still my dream dress!” (For similar styles try Myles, Indigo or Kayden)

A family farm wedding

“We live together on part of a large farm that belongs to my parents,” says Robinn. “My grandfather and grandmother also live next door and it’s a real family farm. Behind the farm is a large garden with a large lawn. This is where we organised our wedding, all by ourselves. With a large tent and homemade decorations, it looked exactly as we had in mind.”

The big day

“On the morning of the wedding, we went to the local municipality first to get legally married,” says Robinn. “My father’s cousin works there and he was able to marry us, which made it even more special. It was a beautiful ceremony with my parents, Dylan’s parents and brother. Then we got ready for the family farm wedding. My three bridesmaids, my mother and I, and Dylan with his mother, brother and best friend. When the ceremony started, the groomsmen walked in first, then the bridesmaids and then the bride. It was an emotional ceremony with a lot of feeling.”

Afterwards the newlyweds went to take pictures on location while the guests enjoyed a drink. “Then it was time to eat!” says Robinn. “We ate together in the tent and it was great. After dinner the party started and we really enjoyed the evening.”

Pretty pastel colours

“Our theme was pastel,” says Robinn. “We went for light shades because it was a summer wedding. We made all the decoration ourselves. I met with my bridesmaids every month and we made everything from place names to flower walls. The wedding cake had three different flavoured tiers. Our DJ was an acquaintance, and he worked with us from the start so that all the music suited us perfectly.”

So many happy memories…

“My favourite moments were getting ready with my bridesmaids and my mom,” says Robinn. “And also the moment Dylan burst into tears at his vows. It was great bringing our families together.”

My top tips

“Enjoy every moment,” says Robinn. “There are many things that you might not catch on the day, because there’s a lot coming your way! But enjoy everything that happens and take the time to take it all in. Things will go wrong, but make sure you don’t pay attention to them.”
