Roshni and Krupesh met on Bumble. “By that point I was fed up of dating apps, so I wasn’t keen on meeting up,” says Roshni. “One of my friends went to school with Krupesh and forced me to go on the date. We met at Said Daal in London (which is a cafe all about chocolate) for our first date in October 2017. Only, when we got there, Krupesh told me he wasn’t a big chocolate eater! He was an awkward mess on the date but there was something there and, here we are, almost five years later.”

A romantic riverside proposal

Krupesh proposed on 1st August 2021 on the balcony of Sea Containers Hotel overlooking the River Thames and St Paul’s Cathedral. “We’d been together just under four years at that point,” says Roshni. “I’d been insanely busy and we hadn’t spent much time together, so Krupesh planned a day out. He called it a ‘Yes Day’ and had three envelopes with activities inside.”

“I had to choose one activity from each envelope and whatever I pulled out I had to say yes to doing it. The first one was pottery making, second was a salsa dancing lesson and third was the golf driving range. I was suspicious but then thought he was just going above and beyond because things had been so hectic. When we got to Sea Containers, we got up to the room and I had a feeling something was going on. He opened the door and we walked to the balcony, which was decorated. As he got down on one knee, a photographer jumped out of the bathroom to take the snaps!”

Shopping for the dress

Roshni found her dream dress in WED2B’s Chesham store. “My sister-in-law suggested WED2B,” she says. “The sales person was extremely helpful and found a dress that suited me to a tee. They went above and beyond to make it a relaxing experience and one that made it easy to find my dress. I didn’t visit expecting to find anything, as it was so early in the process of looking, but I left super happy and excited about it. Everyone loved the dress and I couldn’t have been happier with it.”

“I went for Charlie,” says Roshni. “My mum and I fell in love with the illusion back and the train, which was stunning. Once I had it altered, it fitted me like a glove and looked incredible.” (For similar styles try Kayden, Theoni and Diaz)

A fairytale wedding at Hever Castle

The couple had their wedding at Hever Castle on 5th July 2022, under the arches in the Italian Gardens and Loggia. “I found it by chance but when I saw the setting, with the lake, arches and Italian gardens, I knew I wanted to get married there and nowhere else,” says Roshni. “It gave us that feel of being in Italy. All of our guests were in awe of the location and the setting. It is a beautiful venue and the grounds allowed us to get some incredible shots where the dress was perfect.”

The big day

“I got ready at the venue with one of my bridesmaids,” says Roshni. “The weather was perfect. We had blue skies with smatterings of clouds and the temperature was a pleasant 20℃. My brother walked me half way to the entrance and then my dad walked me down the aisle.”

“The music was instrumental with a focus on string instruments for the various points in the ceremony. We used a few songs from the Bridgerton playlist from Season 2, as we loved the music. We also had two readings, one called ‘Where There is Love’ and another called ‘The Magic of Love’. The most special moment was when the registrar announced us as husband and wife. I get very awkward in public and my first reaction was to high five my husband, which caused everyone to burst out laughing! It was great.”

“Straight after the ceremony we cut the wedding cake (which I made) and then had photos at Hever Castle,” says Roshni. “Once they were over, everyone went back to Krupesh’s house for a garden party reception and hot fresh pizzas, a string quartet and a magician providing entertainment. We don’t really have a song for us but our first dance was to a famous old Indian song. We got our guests to join in after the first 15 to 20 seconds!”

A rustic garden party

“At Hever Castle, the setting was so beautiful that we didn’t really need a theme or decorations,” says Roshni. “We just had some flowers wrapped around the arches where the ceremony was happening. The main decor and theme was at home in the garden. We went for a rustic vibe with rustic tables, chivari chairs and table decor that we put together ourselves with table runners, vines, vases with flowers and candlesticks.”

“For the food we hired a caterer with a social angle, as well as making incredible food,” says Roshni. “They are a duo who make Italian food and for every pizza they sell in their restaurant, they donate one to those in need. Along with the pizza, there was couscous and roasted vegetables, burratini, bruschetta, pesto pasta salad, mushroom truffle arancini and then six different types of pizzas and garlic bread.”

"We also got an ice cream company to serve seven different flavours, which went down a storm because it was such a nice day and perfect for ice cream.”

“We had a string quartet too, which was amazing,” says Roshni. “They played a mix of songs from Bollywood to pop songs to Disney film songs. It was perfect. We also had a magician who wowed our guests.”

The best bits…

“The best moments were the high five at the ceremony, being surprised with a Rolls-Royce and driver to bring us home to the reception and our guests enjoying the day from start to finish.”

Top tips…

“Don’t go crazy searching for your vendors,” says Roshni. “There are so many out there who are amazing and you don’t need to enquire with hundreds. Our suppliers were all phenomenal and we love each and every one of them!”

“Also, make sure you feel like yourself on the day. Be comfortable with how you look and how you feel. Also, don’t stress. No matter how much you have planned, things are out of your control on the day but friends and family will pull together to make sure it runs as smoothly as possible.”
