Rosie and Joshua met when they were both 18. "Josh invited me to his 18th birthday party,” says Rosie. “Our friends were dating at the time. Our first date was to the cinema to see the Avengers with friends. I felt very shy.”

A romantic proposal in Paris

Josh proposed in Paris in December 2018, after the couple had been together for six years. “It was raining and we were taking a selfie on the bridge near the Eiffel Tower,” says Rosie.

“Josh pulled out a box and stared at me and then said, ‘Will you be my wife?’. I felt so happy it had finally happened, as I had wanted to get married for ages.”

Shopping for the dream dress

Rosie discovered WED2B online. "I found so many dresses I loved,” she says. “I felt very comfortable in WED2B and not under pressure to buy a certain dress. Cecily was the dress I chose, after returning my first dress, Quinn. I loved both but when I put Cecily on I felt like a bride and it was what I had imagined myself wearing. It made me feel like a princess and I loved it.” (For similar styles try Allyson, Julyana and Mirella

A beautiful church ceremony

The couple married at St Eustachius Church in Tavistock, Devon. “I always knew, from when I was young, that I wanted to get married there,” says Rosie. “I used to go on holiday to Devon to see my grandad and at Christmas we would go to this church. It's beautiful and very close to Dartmoor, where we had our photoshoot. Our reception was at the nearby Two Bridges Hotel. We got married on 9th April 2022, after postponing from last May.”

The big day

“We got ready at the hotel and Josh and I stayed in separate rooms,” says Rosie. “I got ready with my mum, mother-in-law and bridesmaids. The weather was beautiful and sunny and my father walked me down the aisle. We also had traditional church music and a reading from the Bible. The most special moment for me was when I got to the top of the aisle. We were waiting for the music to stop and the service to begin. My eyes started watering, as I had been waiting for this day and it had finally come.”

A stunning Dartmoor photoshoot

“Afterwards, we drove across Dartmoor and had a photoshoot and then met our family and friends at the Two Bridges Hotel for welcome drinks,” says Rosie. “This was followed by our delicious wedding breakfast, cake and an evening of dancing. Our first dance was to The Overtones’ ‘Can't Take My Eyes Off You’.”

A spring theme wedding

“We had a spring theme wedding with pink blossom trees as centrepieces, mint green and pink chair covers and Devon fudge, as our favours,” says Rosie. “Our food was roast beef and pork with local produce, and we had a two-tiered wedding cake in cream with pink drip decoration and roses on top.”

So many happy memories…

“One of my favourite moments was our family and friends throwing confetti outside the church,” says Rosie. “Also, dancing with my bridesmaids and groomsmen, our first dance and our photoshoot on Dartmoor. I loved my dad walking me down the aisle and being in the car with him driving to the church.”

My top tips…

“Don’t stress about buying all the little things you think you need, as no one notices,” says Rosie. “Just have fun and focus on marrying your true love, rather than keeping everyone else happy.”
