A quirky wedding venue and lovely autumn wedding colours set the scene for this happy couple…

Greg and Sarah met at their local pub. “We were friends at first and then we started dating after we had known each other for about two years,” says Sarah. “Our first date was a walk around our local town gardens and along the water front, just getting to know each other a bit more.”

Greg proposed just before the first lockdown in 2020. ”We had not long welcomed our second child, Jack,” says Sarah. “I was asleep on the sofa and when I woke up there were candles and Greg was on one knee with the ring.”

Shopping for the dress

Sarah found her dream dress at wed2b Bromley. “My experience at wed2b was absolutely wonderful,” she says. “The staff were brilliant, so kind and so knowledgeable.”

She chose Valera, a beautifully embellished A-line with glitter tulle and lace by Anna Sorrano. “It was actually one of the staff members who picked it out for me,” Sarah says. “At first I wasn't sure, but as soon as I put the dress on I knew it was ‘The One’.”

A unique location

The wedding was held at Kent Life, a farm and wedding venue in Maidstone, on 28th October. “We hired three function rooms,” says Sarah. “The pink chapel, the wagon store (where we had our wedding breakfast) and the village hall where we held our reception. We chose Kent Life because it was different to all the other venues we had seen, and there was something about it that made us want to get married there. It was family friendly, very unique and an absolutely gorgeous venue.”

The big day

"My bridesmaids got ready with me in the hotel onsite at Kent Life,” says Sarah. “The weather wasn't great but it didn't ruin the day for us. My dad walked me down the aisle while violinists play the Lord of the Rings soundtrack.”

Let’s celebrate!

The ceremony was followed by drinks and canapés. “Then we had the wedding breakfast, which was pulled pork bonbons for starters, roast beef for main and sticky toffee pudding for dessert,” says Sarah. “Our first dance song was “Darkness at the Heart of my Love’ by Ghost. The song means a lot to us and it has helped us get through challenging times.”

Seasonal autumn wedding colours

“We had autumn wedding colours for the decor, including lots of rich reds and oranges,” says Sarah. “There was also a Halloween theme and we lined the aisle with pumpkins. We made the majority of our wedding decor, from the centrepieces to the candles. There were a few craft days at my house! Later there was a DJ to get everyone dancing.”

The best bits…

“The most memorable moments of the whole day were arriving at Kent Life and saying our wedding vows,” says Sarah. “Then, leaving the chapel, our first dance and also the speeches.”

My top tips…

“Try not to stress too much when it comes to planning,” says Sarah. “Everything will go so smoothly on the day. Also, try to enjoy it as much as you can because it goes so quickly!”
