Sian and Jake’s green and white wedding
A stylish day in Brentwood, Essex
These newlyweds married at their local church before an a’la carte meal with an elegant green and white wedding theme…

Sian and Jake met online during the 2020 covid pandemic. “We went to the same secondary school,” says Sian. “We had also crossed paths thanks to mutual friends and relatives who were also friends. Our first date was in the pub Jake grew up in."
A romantic holiday proposal
Jake prosed while the couple were on holiday in Zia, on the Greek island of Kos. “He did it at sunset during dinner, although it almost didn’t go to plan,” says Sian. “I was running late getting ready and made us miss our transport! When he finally proposed, Jake was a sweaty mess in an already very hot climate. I was none the wiser, as I was still in a fluster after making us miss the transfer. Jake proposed at sunset with my daughter, Laila, present. It was the most beautiful setting with a sweet Greek chapel in the distance and everyone clapped and cheered.”

Shopping for the dress
“I visited wed2b Chelmsford after a recommendation from a friend who had recently got married,” says Sian. “My shopping experience was amazing. The sales advisor who helped me, CJ, was outstanding. I even left with the dress she chose.”
Sian’s dream dress was Rosalia, a romantic ballgown with cascading botanical florals and a soft tulle skirt. “It just felt perfect,” she says. “It had the support, felt great, looked great and fitted like a glove. I customised it with a belt and straps, which made it even more unique.”

The big day
The couple married at St Paul’s Church, Bentley Common, Brentwood on 16th May. “This is Jake’s local church,” says Sian. “We joined the parish so we could get married there, as we wanted a very traditional wedding. I got ready with my maid of honour, flower girl and my mum at her house. The weather was perfect, sunny but not too hot.”

“My dad walked me down the aisle to ‘Bittersweet Symphony’ by The Verve and the ceremony included a wedding poem, bible reading and two church hymns, 'All Things Bright and Beautiful’ and ‘Come to a Wedding’. During the signing of the register we had ‘Better Half of Me’ by Tom Walker and ‘High’ by the Lighthouse Family. Then we left the church to ‘Praise You’ by Fat Boy Slim!”

A sage green and white wedding theme
“After the ceremony we had a private room booked at Mason's, an exclusive a’la carte restaurant, and guests could choose what they wanted from the menu,” says Sian. “Our colours were sage green and white wedding decor. The vibe was rustic woodland with lots of foliage. The cake was made by a local baker, also very rustic style, and I made a lot of DIY thank you presents for family.”

The best bits…
“The standout moment for me was during the ceremony,” says Sian. “When we walked up to the back alter to light a candle for our loved ones.”
My top tips…
“Don’t sweat the small things,” says Sian. “There will be lots of twists and turns in the lead up to the big day. So, try to let the small things go.”
