Acacia and Adam’s cool coastal wedding
A scenic Cornish beach was the backdrop for this small coastal wedding. Our WED2B Real Weddings feature reveals more…
Acacia and Adam met on a night out in Manchester almost 11 years ago. “It was late, we started dancing together, and the rest is history,” says Acacia.
A Cornish proposal
“Adam proposed 10 years from when we met,” says Acacia. "It was outside our little 1970s vintage caravan in Newquay, that we had spent the pandemic rebuilding. He made me a little hamper with food/drinks relating to places we had been together, such as Moroccan hummus, Danish beer, Italian breadsticks, etc."
“To end, there was a box of Sri Lankan tea (representing a three-week trip to Sri Lanka) that had the ring in it. We then enjoyed a beautiful spa day the following day with stunning views of the Cornish coast.”
Shopping for the dress
“As my family live far away, I decided to look for a dress by myself,” says Acacia. “The team at WED2B Cardiff were absolutely brilliant. They were honest, professional and really made me feel at ease when I was very nervous. I chose Bruna in blush. The style is beautiful and the colour also really complemented Adam’s suit.” (For similar styles try Freda, Rion or Niah)
The big day
“Our day was very relaxed, with only 16 guests,” says Acacia. “I got ready in our hotel room with my parents and four bridesmaids (including my sister), with others popping in and out during the day. We had a 4:30pm ceremony, so we had a full day to get ready, relax, chat and have some bubbles.”
“For the ceremony we had the beautiful Gabrielle Aplin song, ‘Magic’ as the lyrics really resonated with us. We couldn’t have been luckier with the weather and were able to have our ceremony outdoors, with a beautiful sea view.”
“After the ceremony, we had fizz and canapés with our guests and then we all ventured down to the beach for pictures and a paddle,” says Acacia.
Berry colours and a coastal twist
“Adam’s berry-coloured suit started it all for the colour scheme, which had a bit of a coastal twist too,” says Acacia. “Everything was picked to complement the berry and blue tones, from the dried flowers to the cake.”
“We had a gorgeous meal in the hotel’s private dining room, which we decorated with a relaxed coastal wedding theme. Favours were little bags of chocolate, which we spent all day trying to stop from melting!”
“One night in the pub we also coerced an amazing friend of ours to make our cake, which was lemon with lemon curd. It tasted delicious!”
Our favourite moments…
“Having a paddle in the sea was amazing,” says Acacia. “After much hoisting up of the dress, it was such a relief on my feet to go for a nice paddle. It was also a great laugh, we were surrounded by our family and friends and we got soaked!”
My top tips…
“Relax and do whatever you want,” says Acacia. “It’s your day after all.”
