Tegan and Adam knew each other from secondary school and then met again through a friend a year or so after leaving. “Our first date was at our local beach in Cornwall,” says Tegan. “I was excited!”

A proposal in Iceland
Adam proposed on Tegan’s birthday, the 16th January 2020, while the couple were in Iceland.
“He did it right in front of a beautiful waterfall and later on that trip we saw the Northern Lights,” says Tegan.
“At the time we had just had a big lunch and I actually thought I was going to vomit when he asked, as I was so shocked! We had been together eight years at the time.”

Shopping for the dress
“My sister got her wedding dress at WED2B’s Exeter store in 2019 and there was so much choice,” says Tegan.
“The dresses are also so reasonably priced that I knew I wanted to get my dress there. The Newquay store is local to us and had recently opened, so it was perfect. The lady who helped was lovely and knowledgeable and happy for me to take as long as I needed. I tried on lots of dresses, as I had no idea what I wanted.”

Tegan chose Sian a lightweight lace sheath. “It was nothing like I thought I’d have!” she says. “I didn’t think I’d have lace but I loved the lace on this dress. I also didn’t expect to have a dress that was so figure-hugging but it really was perfect for me. Then a pretty Autumn hairpiece was the ideal finishing touch.” (For similar styles try Cruiz, Fynn or Dillon).

A beautiful beach wedding Cornwall
The couple had a beach wedding Cornwall at Driftwood Spars in St Agnes. “It has a relaxed vibe and the whole day could take place outside (weather dependant), which is exactly what we wanted,” says Tegan. “They’re also right on the beach and dog friendly, which was important for us. We fell in love with it right away and got married on Saturday 17th September 2022.”

The big day
“I got ready on my own, as I didn’t have a bridal party,” says Tegan. “The weather was sunny with blue skies, which was perfect as we could be outside all day. My little dog Nuala walked me down the aisle, which was my favourite part of the day! We had ‘Take A Piece’ by The Big Moon as I walked down the aisle and no readings.”

Afterwards there were photos and a big game of cricket on the beach,” says Tegan. “Then it was canapés and Pimms, followed by a hog roast, games in the sun in the cliffside garden and a party in the evening. One of the highlights of the day for me was everyone playing beach cricket.”

Seaside colours
“We didn’t really have a theme but our colours where white, sea blue and yellow,” says Tegan.
“We also wanted to be quite eco friendly. So, along with our choice of venue, we used pom poms for confetti for this reason. We had a hog roast instead of a big three-course wedding breakfast and we had cupcakes instead of a wedding cake. Music was provided all day by a local acoustic musician.”

The best bits…
“One of the most memorable moments was our dog walking me down the aisle,” says Tegan. “Also, everyone playing and laughing on the beach and just being outside all day.”

My top tips…
“Enjoy every second and try to relax with the planning,” says Tegan. “Everything will be perfect and what will be, will be.”
