These newlyweds wanted fun, laughter and a big wheel on their big day, so a fairground wedding venue was the perfect setting…

Kieran and Alice got engaged by the sea at sunset. “Kieran took me to the beach,” says Alice. “Then, as the sun set, he got down on one knee. It was completely unexpected.”

Shopping for the dress

Alice found her dream dress at wed2b’s Bromley store. “I already had a dress before discovering wed2b,” says Alice. “However, Covid hit and by the time we were able to get married I realised I didn’t like my original dress. So, I went into the wed2b store in bromley and they were amazing. The staff were so patient with me and my daughter. We had the best time choosing our dresses.”

Alice’s perfect dress was a beautifully simple A-line in glittering tulle with off-the-shoulder straps and a flattering ruched bodice. “I just felt like a princess,” she says. “It fitted everywhere perfectly and the sparkle was unreal. I also bought my little girl’s outfit too, a flower girls’ dress with a pretty belt and headpiece.”

A fairground wedding

The couple wanted something a bit different for their big day and booked Marleybrook House in Kent, which has the UK’s largest private fairground. “We looked up unique weddings on Google and Marleybrook House came up,” says Alice. “It was the first and only place we saw and we booked instantly. We got married outside, which was beautiful, and then had our fairground wedding reception afterwards. It was an amazing day!”

The big day

“Our wedding date was 29th April and I got ready in the bridal suite with my two sisters, three ‘chosen’ sisters, my niece and my daughter,” says Alice. “Then my Dad walked me down the aisle.”

After the ceremony there was a BBQ dinner. “Everyone loved it!” says Alice. “Then there were funfair rides afterwards. For our first dance we chose ‘Amazed' by Lonestar, because the words fit us perfectly. We were very young when we first met, then had our children young. We just love with everything.”

Music, doughnuts and lovely light blues

“Our colour theme was light blues and our plan for the day was to make it as fun as possible,” says Alice. “I made absolutely everything from the favours to the signs. We also had a DJ who played a bespoke playlist of our type of music. So, a lot of garage and old school. We also had a donut cake.”

The best bits

“The most memorable moment of the whole day was when they announced my bridesmaids, then my daughter as the ‘mini bride’,” says Alice. “It made her day!”

My top tips…

“Just take everything in and take a minute to look around you,” says Alice. “The day goes so fast.”
