A relaxed woodland wedding in a beautiful outdoor setting was exactly what this chilled-out couple were looking for…

Chloe and Marc first met online. “Then Marc moved down to the sunny south coast and now our favourite activity is having a BBQ on the beach and a wander around the woods,” says Chloe. “He proposed on the beach at sunset, when it was just the two of us having a BBQ.”

Shopping for the dress

Chloe found her perfect dress at wed2b’s Brighton store. “My visit was amazing,” she says. “The lovely ladies there made me feel so comfortable.”

She chose Elton, a modern strapless ballgown in shimmering Mikado. “Elton was so simple and classic and suited me and the venue perfectly. It really stood out against the green and the forest surroundings. I also bought my veil at wed2b. It was amazing, and really made the dress stand out, but not too much.”

A woodland wedding

The couple booked Bower in The Woods, a romantic outdoor venue set in 80 acres of stunning Ancient English woodland in East Sussex, for their August wedding. “I got ready with my mum and my bridesmaids,” says Chloe. “Then we had an outdoor ceremony, followed by a party with a festival woodland feel.”

“There were tables set up in the woodland and we served BBQ food that had been cooked on a converted VW Beetle,” says Chloe. “The venue also had a Grand Hall with a domed ceiling for the evening party where we had a live band. The whole day was very chilled. We spoke to all our guests and had a lot to drink!”

Pretty pastels

“The colour scheme was soft pastels and the theme was botanicals,” says Chloe. “We got all the flower vases from charity shops and painted them ourselves, as well as making all the bunting.”

The best bits…

“The most memorable moment of the whole day was getting married outside,” says Chloe.

My top tips…

“Do it yourself, don’t fork out if you don’t want to,” says Chloe. “You have each other and it will be amazing.”
