Destiny and Joshua have known each other for around 10 years, and been together for four years.

“We met as army cadets,” says Destiny. “Our first date was in 2018. We went out for dinner and just hit it off straight away. We’re also both car enthusiasts. I can definitely say I have married my best friend.”

A proposal on the beach

The couple had been together for two years when Josh proposed. “I had always wanted to be proposed to on the beach, which is my favourite place,” says Destiny. “Josh remembered this and proposed to me at our favourite beach, and it was so romantic. I had no clue though, even though he had been planning it with his best friend for five months!”

Shopping for the dress

“I had the best experience at Swansea WED2B,” says Destiny. “My mum, mum-in-law and my best friend were with me. My best friend picked out my dress and I cried as soon as I tried it on. I knew it was the one.”

Destiny chose the beautiful Beckingsale gown. “I love this gown because of the stunning detail at the back of the dress, and how elegant it is,” she says. “It’s so comfy and it has pockets, too. But I had to have it because my best friend chose it, it’s perfect for me!” For similar styles take a closer look at Preston, Cortez and Amalfi.

A countryside wedding venue

The couple chose stunning Woodhouse Barn in Pembrokeshire for their big day.

“It’s a chic rustic venue, which was ideal for Josh and I,” says Destiny. “We only saw one venue before this and as soon as we saw Woodhouse Barn we knew it was the one, no doubt about it. We got married on 30th July 2022.”

The big day

“We got ready at my house on the morning of the wedding,” says Destiny. “I got ready with my four bridesmaids, mum and mum-in-law. Unfortunately, it was raining on and off but we still had the most perfect day.”

“My dad walked me down the aisle to ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perri,” says Destiny. “It was so special, and everything went so smoothly. The most special moment in the ceremony was when Josh first saw me and I burst out crying.”

Let the celebrations begin…

After the ceremony, there were drinks and nibbles, followed by photos. “Then we had dinner and speeches,” says Destiny. “My dad did the most lovely speech, we were all in tears. Our first dance song was ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran, which is special to us because it’s always been our song.”

Lots of bright sunflowers

“My bridal bouquet was sunflowers, which are my favourite flower,” says Destiny. “My bridesmaids wore royal blue to complement the sunflowers, and they looked beautiful.”

The best bits…

“The ceremony was just so magical and emotional, it was more than perfect,” says Destiny. “Mine and my dad’s first dance was also lovely, as was mine and Josh’s first dance.”

My top tips…

“Try on plenty of dresses and take your time with it,” says Destiny. “Just enjoy the experience, everything will fall into place on the day."
