Tim and Linda met 17 years ago through a mutual friend. “It felt like love straight away,” says Linda. “After that, we never doubted it again! Tim proposed to me at our happy place, the beach at Zoutelande. We had been together for 13 years when he proposed in August 2019. Our children were there and that made it even more special. It was a surprise, as Tim always said he didn’t want to get married.”

Wedding dresses Eindhoven

“I visited WED2B in Eindhoven with my daughter, mother and mother-in-law,” says Linda. “The staff who work there are great. My daughter also got a dress and she was given a lot of attention! We both eventually bought a dress of the same fabric and it was very special to do this together.”

“I chose the most beautiful dress, Gianna,” says Linda. “As soon as I put it on I knew it was ‘The One’. I absolutely loved the detailed bodice and the beautiful satin skirt.” (For similar styles try Dora, Klara or Katryn)

A riverside fortress venue

The couple married at Fort Lunet in Raamsdonksveer, in the Netherlands. “It’s a real fortress,” says Linda. “It was wonderfully arranged. We planned the wedding long before the pandemic, so we ended up having to reschedule it from May to September 2020.”

The big day

“My sister-in-law did my hair and unfortunately our make-up artist was sick, so she did the makeup too. And it was actually very successful! It meant we suddenly had a lot of time left too, so it was all super relaxed. I put on my dress with my mum and we had some beautiful pictures taken. My aunt made the bouquets for myself and my daughter. Meanwhile, my husband and son were at my in-laws’ house.”

“We had the venue all to ourselves and we had the ceremony, cake and drinks all outside” says Linda. “It meant the children could run around and have fun. The weather was great, sunny and about 23℃. My daddy gave me away, which was very nice. The children also got to sign their own certificate and they took this very seriously!”

“After the ceremony there was cake and champagne,” says Linda. “We had snacks and drinks at long tables, so everyone could have a nice chat. The evening meal was a BBQ and guests helped themselves to what they wanted.”

Understated and fun

“It was our day, and we just wanted it to be simple, without too much hassle,” says Linda. “Just a great time for everyone. We are also big Disney fans, so this was incorporated into the theme with a small details of Mickey Mouse, for example. Later, we also served Tim’s favourite, cones of chips in a personalised wrapper. A colleague kindly made our lovely wedding cake, with a cascade of rainbow Mickey Mouse silhouettes and a wooden cake topper of our family.”

“We celebrated our party just as we are,” says Linda. “it was important to us that it felt cosy and that everyone had a good time.”

My favourite memories

“I loved travelling as a family to the venue,” says Linda. “It was a special moment with just us four together. Also, when my father saw me for the first time and gave me away to Tim. It was also amazing being together after the pandemic. Measures were slightly less then and people had been apart for a long time, so it was very nice. This whole day was special, I didn’t expect to enjoy it so much. I actually never had a moment of stress. Amazing!”

Linda's top tips...

“Do not let them get to you,” says Linda. “Allow plenty of time and let go of your worries. The more you let go, the more perfect the day becomes.”
