Lorelle and Sariel’s Caribbean themed wedding
Tropical celebrations in sunny Essex
These newlyweds enjoyed a Caribbean themed wedding with lots of bright colours, delicious food and plenty of rum punch...

Lorelle and Sariel met in 2017, when they both joined the same kizomba class (a type of dance originating in Angola). “Sariel later proposed in St Lucia on 18th December 2022,” says Lorelle.

Shopping for the dress
Lorelle found her dream dress at wed2b’s Chelmsford store. “It was such a personal and amazing service,” she says. “The lovely staff were really supportive and patient.”
She chose Sebastiane by Anna Sorrano, a stunning off-the-shoulder mermaid with beautiful Chantilly lace and a wow-factor scalloped hem. “It was unique, fitted and also perfect for my petite shape,” says Lorelle. “It made me feel special and like a bride. I also bought a belt and a veil to complete the look.”

An elegant marquee venue
The couple married on 31 August in Chigwell, Essex. “I found our Chigwell marquee venue on Instagram,” says Lorelle. “It was perfect and intimate. It also had a secret garden for our outdoor ceremony and a great space for the indoor reception.”

A Caribbean themed wedding
“I got ready with my mum and bridesmaids in the bridal suite at the venue,” says Lorelle. "After the ceremony, guests enjoyed sangria followed by a selection of Caribbean food and classic rum punch. Our first dance was to 'Half Remarkable' by Jaheim and a kizomba song to match our dance because we met while doing kizomba.”

Tropical blues
“Teal was part of the theme and the bridesmaids’ dresses were teal to match,” says Lorelle. “Classic Caribbean rum punch was the main drink for the day and our wedding favours were bottles of my granny’s homemade hot pepper sauce.”

The best bits...
“The most memorable moments of the whole day were the first dance and the vows,” says Lorelle. “As well as walking down the aisle and making a big entrance at the reception.”
My top tips…
“Things won’t go exactly to plan, but don’t let it ruin your day,” says Lorelle. “Just enjoy it as much as you can. Also, don’t leave any of your payments until the month of the wedding. Pay it all early!"
