Louise and Frazer were best friends for years before they got together. “I really did marry my best friend,” says Louise. “Frazer proposed after we had been together for three years. It was Christmas Day and he had bought me a designer handbag and put the ring inside. As I opened the bag, he got down on one knee. It was truly one of the happiest days of my life.”

Shopping for the dress

Louise found her dream dress at WED2B’s Glasgow store. “I knew about WED2B and always thought that when I was getting married I would go there for my dress,” she says. “When I visited, I tried on one dress and that was it. I bought it then and there! I chose the Star dress and a Solstice belt, plus two underskirts to wear with it.” (For similar styles try Azora, Nicolina or Haylie)

A coastal venue

The couple married at the Seamill Hydro Hotel in Ayrshire, Scotland. “My husband’s mum and dad married there 30 years ago and it’s our favourite place,” says Louise.

The big day

“I got ready with my mum and three bridesmaids in the hotel,” says Louise. “All my bridesmaids wore WED2B’s Eden dress in silver grey. The weather was amazing, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky and the sun was shining all day. There were even seals playing in the sea when we were getting our photos done.”

“We were married by our local minister and I walked down the aisle to Pachelbel’s Canon in D,” says Louise. “I’ve dreamed of walking down the aisle to that since I was a little girl.”

After the ceremony all the guests headed out to the beach for canapés and champagne. “Our first dance song was ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ by Elvis,” says Louise.

A silver sparkle wedding

“I had always imagined a big wedding and Covid wasn’t going to stop that,” says Louise. “It was postponed five times before we finally got our day. When it finally happened, we just wanted a huge party, as everyone had been stuck in for nearly two years.”

“Our theme was ‘silver sparkle wedding’. We had all-white flowers and everything was sparkling. Even our cake sparkled! We also had mini Molton Brown gifts for the ladies and, as Frazer is Scottish, miniature Buckfast drinks for the men.”

“In the evening we had a DJ and saxophonist,” says Louise. “We also had a piper for the day and our names in five-foot lights.”

The best memories…

“One of my favourite memories is being on the beach with Frazer, watching the seals play and swans swimming about,” says Louise. “Having that moment together, with no-one else around, was amazing.”

My top tips…

“Enjoy every moment of your day because it’s all over in the blink of an eye!”
