Real Weddings Southampton: Kostadin and Yolanda’s stylish Bulgarian wedding

Kostadin and Yolanda met eight years ago when she was 17. “We grew up together and learnt so much from each other,” says Yolanda. “Everything started in McDonald’s! We used to go there to get warm in the cold months and to enjoy each other’s company.”

Popping the question

Kostadin proposed at a huge concert in front of 2,000 people. “This happened in summer 2018 in Bulgaria,” says Yolanda. “He made me feel like I was the most special woman in the world!”

Shopping for 'The One'

“I bought my dress in WED2B's Southampton store,” says Yolanda. “My parents live in Bulgaria so I was nervous about going to fittings alone because I thought there would be no-one to help me choose the perfect dress. I was so wrong though! The staff were all incredibly helpful and honest with me. They helped me a lot. In the end, I chose Amore, a stunning fishtail design in shimmering Mikado fabric.”

A beautiful Bulgarian wedding

The couple married on 20th July 2019. “We decided to have our Bulgarian wedding outdoors, so we could enjoy the amazing mountain views and summer vibes,” says Yolanda. “We also chose dusty rose as our colour theme.”

The big day

“Our special day started with my girls and I getting ready with lots of champagne, dancing and laughing,” says Yolanda. “I then met Kostadin around lunchtime before heading to our church ceremony.”

A second ceremony

“After that, we had our photo session,” says Yolanda. “Then in the evening, we had our official ceremony. My uncle walked me down the aisle, as my parents are divorced. It was magical because my uncle was always there when I was growing up and we are very close to each other. We then carried on partying until 5am. It was a crazy and magical night for everyone!”
