Understated, pared down and oh-so elegant, simple wedding dresses are this year’s hot trend. Forget layers of froufrou and lace, for 2019 it’s all about sleek lines and modern minimalism, thanks to the new Duchess of Sussex.
The modern princess bride
That simple bateau neckline and understated dress were always going to start a trend and, boy, have they. This season’s catwalks were awash with chic designs with very little embellishment, which is a look our Anna Sorrano collection does extremely well. The range is all about elegant refinement and timeless grace, with designs that are created for the modern bride who wants her natural beauty to be the star of the show. There are touches of high quality lace or a little subtle beading too, to highlight delicate straps or a striking neckline, but these elements are always kept stylishly minimal.
So, if your look is more Meghan than Diana, you’re in luck! The Anna Sorrano collection has four brand new simple wedding dresses, that are all about clean lines, sleek silhouettes and just a tiny hint of embellishment here and there. These are dresses that really are fit for a 21st Century princess. Read on for an exclusive first look…
Low-key luxury
This sheath dress is simply stunning. We love the sleek silhouette combined with the flattering princess seams, which run down the sides of the bodice and help to emphasise the waist.
Curve-skimming comfort
Simple wedding dresses, such as Markle, are often made in elegant crepe, as it’s the ideal material for creating clean lines that gently skim the curves.
Attractively refined
The sexy low back is offset by the high neckline at the front and the full-length sleeves. There’s also an elegant row of simple crepe-covered buttons to ensure the perfect fit.
Smart design
Step back to take in the full effect and you’ll see that the pretty buttons trail all the way down to the hem of the sophisticated skirt. It looks amazing and it’s also a clever way to draw eyes down the skirt to show off the whole dress!
A few extra touches…
Keep it simple with your accessories too, to complement the style of the dress. Our understated Aurelia tiara adds a gently regal feel, while our Estella belt is a chic way to emphasise your waist.
Simple chic
An understated veil also works wonders here, and our classic Willa veil in plain tulle is the finishing touch that will complete your look. If you like simple wedding dresses like this one, but would prefer strapless, take a look at our Dolce design too. Alternatively, Reno has a similar feel but with a touch more detail.
Material girl
Luxurious Mikado fabric is another fabulous material for simple wedding dresses and our Porsha design uses it to full effect.
A polished look
The bodice is oh-so elegant in its simplicity. The Mikado fabric creates beautiful clean lines while giving the whole dress a sophisticated but subtle shimmer.
Fine features
The neat box pleats at the top of the skirt are a stylish way to add volume to the classic ball gown shape. This means there's space for pockets too, which are perfect for one or two big day essentials!
Subtle design details
Turn around and the back is just as elegant. The cleverly designed straps sit just off the shoulders to frame the back and flatter the arms.
No frills
This skirt has all the flattering qualities of a ball gown style but without any of the frills. For example, the fitted bodice and the clean lines of the flared Mikado skirt combine to create a beautiful waistline. To add even more volume to the skirt, you can also double up on our 153 and 163 underskirts.
A touch of refinement
Simple styling is all that’s needed here. Just a touch of sparkle at the waist then you’re done! Alternatively, if you’d like a strapless version of this dress, take a look at Delancey instead.
Soft detailing
Simple wedding dresses can also look amazing with just a hint of embellishment, and Phillipa is the perfect example. The subtle lace detailing here works beautifully with the crisp Mikado fabric to create a look that’s totally contemporary.
Fit for a princess
The bodice features the on-trend boat neckline made popular by Meghan, which provides plenty of stylish coverage.
Layers of lace
Look closely and you can see the elegantly layered embroidered and Chantilly floral lace, which add subtle but understated detail to the bodice.
On-trend design
The sexy low back, another of this year's key trends, is offset by the high neckline at the front, giving brides who want a little coverage the best of both worlds.
Clean-cut lines
The detailing continues a little down the waist before making way for the glossy Mikado fabric, which flares out beautifully to the floor, creating a magnificent silhouette.
One or two finishing touches
Try this dress with our magnificent beaded Nova belt and you won’t be disappointed, we promise. It also looks amazing with our London veil, which is covered with a scattering of chic appliqués. If you’re looking for simple wedding dresses with subtle detailing, take a look at Georgia too. We think you’ll like it!
A modern fishtail
Finally, in our pick of the very best simple wedding dresses, we have dreamy Adora. If you thought fishtails had to be flouncy think again! This dress is a clean and contemporary version with real wow factor.
Sharp styling
The bodice features that elegant high neckline that’s so on trend at the moment, along with princess-cut seams that help to elongate the body.
Take cover
The sophisticated back is low, but not too low, so it’s perfect for brides who want a little more coverage.
A lustrous fabric
The luxurious Mikado fabric really comes into its own used as a fishtail design. The lustrous sheen combined with the clean lines is the epitome of modern elegance. Wear this with our 190 underskirt to give the skirt just a little more flare.
Get the look
As before, simplicity is the key here. A chic Estella belt and simple Loulou veil are all you need to recreate this look. And, if you like this style, you might like our timeless Amore design too.
